First Transgender Superhero Announced

The latest season of CW's Supergirl series is set to make history after it was announced the show would include its first transgender superhero.  The role will be played by Nicole Maines, who made headlines after she won a discrimination lawsuit after her school refused to let her use the girls' bathroom.  Producers say the character, Nia Nal, also known as Dreamer, is a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others.  Season four of Supergirl will begin on October 14th.
