French Montana Explains Why He Bailed A Woman Out Of A Bronx Jail

French Montana understands that his celebrity can do wonders and that's why he bailed a woman out of a Bronx jail who simply couldn't afford it.

On Monday (October 8) TMZ caught up the rapper in New York City after the release and he explained that he isn't trying to fix the criminal justice system by himself, but he does want to do his part. "Just because you can't afford to get out of there, that don't mean that you should be in there. A lot of people lose their families, jobs, kids and all kinds of things for something that petty. We want to end the whole cash bill thing," he explained to the camera.

Asked if more celebrities should use their position in power to do right ala Kim Kardashian, French said that being a rapper is much more than just spitting bars. "If you a rapper that's not helping, you're just like a guy with a mic," he said. "I want to set an example. I know that I'm not going to make all the change, but I'm going to spark the brain of the world leaders that make the change. I just want to make it a stepping stone."

French elaborated more on his new goal in an Instagram post dedicated to his new partnership with freedom project Mass Bailout. "Today I’m joining the @massbailout - a historic effort to free women and children who are jailed simply because they’re too poor to afford bail," he captioned a photo of him and his crew in front of Bronx's Vernon C. Bain Center. "Today I came home to the Bronx and posted bail for someone who should have never been caged in the first place. Thank you to @glblctzn@rfkhumanrights@revolveimpact all the grassroots, Black led groups who have been using bail as a tool for liberation for decades. Poverty is not a crime. Pre-trial detention is the real threat to public safety."
