This Piano Version of Twenty One Pilots' 'My Blood' Will Give You Chills

BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge traveled to Columbus, Ohio to chat with Twenty One Pilots' Tyler Joseph at the Newport Music Hall.

Before jumping into three stunning stripped down piano performances, the singer discussed his love for his hometown and why Newport Music Hall holds a special place in his heart.

The 29-year-old met his drummer Josh Dun at that very venue when his old band was playing a show. Dun, who was playing in a different band at the time, came up to him after the set to congratulate him on a good performance. They got to talking, and the rest is history.

Elsewhere in the interview, Joseph talked about the band's devoted fanbase — including his grandfather who recently added to his merch collection with a license plate that says "TWENTYONEPILOTS," and a certain rock star who plays in Coldplay — and played a game to see how well he knows himself (turns out, he knows himself pretty well).

After the brief interview, Joseph stunned with a short performance of piano ballads, including the Blurryface single "Ride," Damien Rice cover "9 Crimes" and his first ever piano performance of the band's most recent single off Trench, "My Blood."

Listen to the interview and the performances below.

Twenty One Pilots are currently in the middle of their Bandito Tour. Aside from the extensive world tour, Joseph and Dun will also be gracing the stage at The Forum in Los Angeles along with Muse, The Killers, Weezer, Rise Against, Bishop Briggs, and The Revivalists on January 19, 2019 as part of iHeartRadio's 2019 edition of ALTer Ego.
