Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have finally shared the name of their baby girl.
A little over a week after their daughter's arrival, the Miami Heat basketball player announced their newborn's name to Instagram. "#TBT Goes back to that one night in China when i decided to get my daughters name tattooed on me," he captioned an aerial shot of tatted shoulders on Thursday (November 15). "Kaavia James Union Wade! #paternityleave."
Gabrielle later explained how they came up with little Kaavia's name after a fan asked why the chose James as her middle name. "Great question. We wanted my family represented in her name," the Being Mary Jane star explained. "My godfather is my Uncle James Glass. She is named after him.. and then Union... thats... ya know... me."
The 46-year-old actress and 36-year-old basketball star welcomed their first child together via surrogate November 7.
Gabrielle announced the news on Instagram a day later, captioning a series of photos of her holding her newborn daughter alongside her husband at the hospital: "We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!" Her caption also included the lyrics to the chorus of "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers.
Most recently, the parents shared photos of themselves bonding with their newest addition. "🍓x ☂️ ... this baby smell though?! Heaven 👶🏾👶🏾," Gabrielle captioned a photo of her kissing her sweet girl.
Dwyane shared a very much so dad-like photo of him watching sports while getting in his dad-and-me time. "Thanks for letting daddy watch some football 🏈!! We’re already working together well. #Myhappyplace#AFatherFirst #Beardown," he wrote.
Kaavia is Gabrielle's first child and Dwyane's fourth. The baby girl joins half-brothers Zaire, Zavier, and Zion. Dwyane also has custody of his nephew Dahveon.
