Kevin Hart has —in his own words — "once again" apologized to the LGBTQ community for his past homophobic tweets.

The comedian issued a new apology on a radio show Monday (January 7), just days after receiving backlash for his tell-all interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about his 2019 Oscar controversy. "I will say this, and I want to make this very clear. And I'm going to say it just in case you guys try to take this s**t and chop it up, I will rebuttal with this f***ing piece right here," he began. "Once again, Kevin Hart apologizes for his remarks that hurt members of the LGBTQ community. I apologize."

Last week, Hart opened up for the first time on Ellen about his decision to step down as host of the 2019 Oscars and he why he initially refused to apologize for his past homophobic tweets. However, the interview, while well-intended, seemed to only add more fuel to the fire as viewers slammed Ellen DeGeneres for defending the comedian and bashed Hart for playing the victim (he said he believed the dredging up of his old homophobic tweets was a part of a bigger plan to ruin his career and essentially "destroy" him). Many also accused Hart of not understanding the weight of his actions when he wrote the homophobic tweets or the hurt caused by his nonchalant response/ lack of an apology to his disgraceful words once the tweets were dredged up.

As fans know, The Upside actor received almost immediate backlash for his appointment as the award show's host after multiple homophobic tweets he shared from 2009-2011 resurfaced. In one of the tweets, posted in 2011, Hart wrote: "Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice 'stop that’s gay." The backlash only intensified after Hart refused to apologize for his controversial words (saying he had already previously apologized), and ultimately, Hart chose to step down from hosting the show and he issued an apology.
