Weather Man Fired For Allegedly Saying Racial Slur On-Air

January 8, 2019

The first Donkey of The Day for 2019 goes to a New York Meteorologist who got fired after allegedly using a racial slur on air.

Jeremy Kappell who was the meteorologist for WHEC up in Rochester was reporting live from Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Park in the city. During his report viewers are saying that he used a racial slur while saying the late Dr. King's name.

Rochester's mayor Lovely Warren asked for the meteorologist to be fired in a statement saying:

"It is wrong, hurtful and infuriating that WHEC Channel 10 broadcast a racial slur in reference to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during its Friday news broadcast. It is beyond unacceptable that this occurred," Warren said in a press release. "There must be real consequences for the news personality involved and also for the management team that failed to immediately apologize and address the slur."

Kappell continues to deny ever saying the racial slur.
