Mumps Found In Texas ICE Facility

February 11, 2019

Texas health officials say 7 cases of mumps have been identified inside an immigration detention center in Houston. The Houston Health Department says all 7 cases were adult detainees at an ICE facility, and there's no evidence the disease was transmitted to anyone outside the facility. Houston's EMS medical director, Dr. David Persse , said since these individuals were isolated inside the facility when they were infectious, they don't anticipate these cases posing a threat to the community.
