Details Of Border Wall Deal Emerge

A tentative bipartisan deal on border security would provide far less funding for a border barrier than President Trump has asked for. Lawmakers reached the deal late Monday in hopes of avoiding another government shutdown by the end of the week. The deal includes over $1,000,000,000 in funding for a physical barrier at the southern border, which is a far cry from the nearly $6,000,000,000 Trump demanded. The agreement also limits funding for detention beds for people in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody. However, the deal includes funding for a limited number of detention beds, just over 40,000. Legislators face a deadline at the end of this week to reach a deal or risk another shutdown.
