The New York Times is reporting that President Trump asked Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker about putting an ally in charge of the prosecution of his former longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen. The New York Times published the report alleging the President's intent to meddle in the many investigations into several of his associates and his personal business dealings prior to his election as President in 2016. Trump rejected the report that he was allegedly seeking a change in the Cohen investigation and called the report "fake news." Cohen eventually pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, tax fraud, banking fraud and campaign finance violations.
