A far-right Australian politician ended up with egg on his face after a 17-year-old boy cracked one on Queensland Sen. Fraser Anning while he was speaking to reporters on Saturday.

News 7 Sydney was interviewing the far-right politician when the boy smashed the egg on Anning's head. Footage of the incident showed Anning turning, and then striking then boy in the face, before trying to land another punch. The boy was tackled to the ground by other men present at the scene.

Victoria police said they arrested the 17-year-old, but he was later released without charges. The encounter happened one day after a massacre at two New Zealand mosques left at least 49 people dead and dozens more injured.

Dozens of people praised the teenager's actions who was dubbed "Egg Boy" online.

Anning was criticized Friday for blaming Muslim immigration for the terror attack at two mosques in New Zealand that left 50 dead, and at least 20 seriously injured, including one statement that said, "Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?"

"The real cause of the bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place," Anning said in a statement.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison condemned Anning's comments on Friday.

"In his conflation of this horrendous terrorist attack with issues of immigration, in his attack on Islamic faith specifically — these comments are appalling and they're ugly and they have no place in Australia, in the Australian Parliament," Morrison said. "He should be, frankly, ashamed of himself."
