Senator Ted Cruz says the House majority is determined to impeach President Trump, regardless of the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's concluded investigation. The Texas Republican told CNN's State of the Union that the Democrats are practicing "extremism" and the House's mandate goes far beyond investigating crimes. Cruz said the House "doesn't care about the basis" for impeachment. He also said the special counsel investigation went on for far too long and therefore undermined its credibility.
From her perspective, U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal says she wants the House to prioritize more investigations of President Trump and to do so thoroughly for lawmakers to be able to decide whether to consider impeachment. The Washington Democrat told CNN's State of the Union that prior to the Democrat Party becoming the majority in the U.S. House, she has been a supporter of articles of impeachment against the President claiming "Republicans refused to even allow us to have a discussion about the things that were out there." She said now that Democrats rule the House, they have the ability to conduct more investigations on matters regarding their beliefs about the President for which they have been seeking answers. She also cast doubt on the result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report adding that any speculation about the final findings are premature.
