Billie Eilish, a 17-year-old vegan, found herself in the hot seat after the breakout star responded to Lady Gaga's 2010 MTV VMA with a one-word answer: "Yikes."
Naturally, Little Monsters took to their idol's defense and started up the #BilliEilishIsOverParty on Twitter. To Eilish's benefit, she doesn't really care much about the backlash, the controversy about not knowing who Van Halen or any of the recent ruckus happening in the media, as per her interview with Variety. "I didn’t even know about it," she said of the uproar on the red carpet for Variety's 2019 Hitmakers brunch. "I don't even care. Why would I care? I don’t know. People try to frame me for being shady and I’m not even, so I don’t care. I’m just being honest. I’m not gonna lie!"
Meanwhile, her brother and right-hand creative Finneas, confessed that Billie has much more of a carefree attitude about cancel culture and its accompanying haters than he does. "She is much better at it than I am, which I think is part of being a big brother," he explained. "It’s like, I’m super protective and I don’t want anyone to say anything mean about her, and because it’s her and she’s got really thick skin, she goes, ‘It’s fine, it’s just the Internet’ but I’m always like that, I’m always like, 'Hold me back.'"
