Throwback! Watch Ryan Seacrest Surprise Mandy Moore With Her Late ‘90s Doll

Bringing all our late ‘90s memories to life. Mandy Moore stopped by the studio on Wednesday, March 4, and Ryan Seacrest surprised her with her doll from 1999.
“Can you believe that actually existed?” Moore exclaimed of the toy, which fit in perfectly for our "Dear Diary Wednesday" segment.
On the back of the toy box it reads “Chat with Mandy” and features all the things Mandy loved doing at the time when “hanging with friends,” including playing “lacrosse,” having fun shopping “big time” and “surfing the net!”
“I remember Ryan Phillippe was my favorite actor,” Moore recalled, trying to think what the doll said. “Maybe it wasn’t part of the doll but it was like ‘Favorite actress?’ It was like ‘Reese Witherspoon!’ Or Gwyneth Paltrow!’ It was like very 1999.”
While Mandy’s come along way since ‘90s teen classics including “Candy,” “In My Pocket,” and “Crush,” she looks back fondly on her early years, rising along the likes of Britney Spears, *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys at just the age of 15.
Her new album, Silver Landings, features a track titled “Fifteen” which reflects on her fame.

“That song is sort of me making amends with my 15-year-old self,” Mandy admitted. “I think for so long I apologized for the creative output during that time in my life because I had no creative control, and who would let a 15-year-old make those kinds of decisions? But I was like put in a studio with the record label [and] I think as I’ve grown, as I’ve gotten older and have enough distance from that time, I’ve really come around to have so much affection for my younger self because clearly she is the reason I’m still here today and have some semblance of a career,” Mandy added. “[I] also acknowledge the fact I got through what could have been a very precarious time unscathed. ... I came out the other side of that. … She is a part of me and I carry her around and I love her.”
