The MTV Video Music Awards looked a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the show and artists involved took all the necessary safety precautions, including wearing masks — and Lady Gaga rocked several different face coverings throughout the night.

Gaga took home several VMAs this year, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Collaboration, and also took over the stage with Ariana Grande for a performance of their collaboration "Rain On Me," in addition to a few other Chromatica songs, including "Stupid Love."

But, that's not all. Lady G also took home the first-ever MTV Tricon Award and in an inspiring speech, she shared, "This has not been an easy year for a lot of people, but what I see in the world is a massive triumph of courage. I also hope that people at home that have big dreams, I hope they see me here today and accepting this award and know how grateful I am, and I want you to know that you can do this too. Just because we're separated right now, the culture might feel less alive in some ways — I know a renaissance is coming, and the wrath of pop culture will inspire you."

Gaga ended with this important message: "Wear a mask, it's a sign of respect."

Throughout the night, Lady G changed several times, and with every different outfit came a different face mask. The star kicked off the night with this Moon Person inspired helmet, which covered her whole head. She joked on Twitter of the look: "I was wearing face shields before it was a thing."
