How To Get A Beer On Chicago Cubs Pitcher Jon Lester

Jon Lester wants to buy you a beer.

The Chicago Cubs pitcher is reflecting on the past six years with the team, and, without knowing his next steps, wanted to thank the fans.

“Regardless of what’s next I want to thank the fans for the past 6 years,” Lester tweeted on Friday morning (October 30). “So this weekend…I’m buying y’all my favorite beer.”

Fans who book a reservation at Hopsmith Tavern, The Lodge, Butch McGuire’s or She-nannigan’s can order their first Miller Lite on Lester, asking their server to put it on “Jon’s Tab.”

Part of Lester’s successful career with the Cubs includes the team’s 2016 World Series win, ending a curse more than a century long. Lester was “instrumental” in the victory, CBS Sports reported. The outlet also noted that the team is likely to take advantage of a $10 million buyout option for Lester — who could make about $25 million next year, if he remains part of the team — in the 2021 season.

Chicago is facing the “second surge” of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady warned earlier this month.

The uptick in hospitalizations and positivity rates led Gov. J.B. Pritzker to enact “resurgence mitigations,” including eliminating indoor dining as an option for restaurants, which went into effect Friday (October 30).
