The world's richest man wants to build his own Texas city.

Elon Musk tweeted on Tuesday "Creating the city of Starbase, Texas" and "From thence to Mars, And hence the Stars."

Starbase would include Boca Chica Village, which is about 20 miles away from Brownsville in south Texas. Musk's SpaceX currently has a launch site in Boca Chica, and he previously tried to buy out Boca Chica residents in 2019, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. confirmed that SpaceX approached county officials about incorporating the small village, the Houston Chronicle reported.

“If SpaceX and Elon Musk would like to pursue down this path, they must abide by all state incorporation statutes. Cameron County will process any appropriate petitions in conformity with applicable law," Treviño said in a statement.

A day after Musk announced his plans for Starbase, SpaceX held a test launch on Wednesday. The SpaceX Starship prototype spent several minutes in the air before it landed on a concrete pad. The prototype burst into flames seconds later.
