Californians can start attending indoor concerts, theater performances, and other private gatherings beginning April 15, reports ABC7.

The changes to the state's COVID-19 restrictions were announced by the California Department of Public Health on Friday, April 2.

While many people are excited to enjoy live performances again, they won't be exactly the way they were pre-pandemic.

In order to attend, people will have to either test negative for COVID-19 or show proof of full vaccination.

In addition, the allowance of concerts and other indoor performances will be based on a county's current tier on California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

In the most restrictive purple tier, indoor concerts and theater performances are not allowed.

For counties in the red tier, concerts and theater performances can resume at 10% capacity for venues of up to 1,500 people and 20% for venues with larger capacities, according to ABC7.

For private events like receptions and conferences, they are limited to 50 people indoors in the red tier and 25 people outdoors in the purple tier.

However, if all guests show proof of a negative COVID test or proof of vaccination, the capacity increases to 200 people.

Most California counties are in the red tier and above.
