Real Milli Vanilli Singer John Davis Dead At 66

One of the true voices behind Milli Vanilli has died.

According to TMZ, John Davis passed away at the age of 66 on Monday (May 24) after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

"My dad passed away this evening through the coronavirus,” John's daughter, Jasmin, announced on his Facebook. “He made a lot of people happy with his laughter and smile, his happy spirit, love and especially through his music. He gave so much to the world! Please give him the last round of applause. We will miss him dearly.”

Jasmin later shared a link to a GoFundMe, which she set up to help cover her father's funeral expenses. "Through corona a funeral is even more expensive and for us not alone manageable," she wrote on the page. "But we would like to help him to have one last performance, with people he loved and got loved from. The grand finale! We would appreciate it very much if you could kindly help us with a donation. We thank you so much in Advance."

John was one of the true vocalists on Milli Vanilli's 1989 hit album Girl You Know It's True. As the public has come to know, the group, which sold more than 30 million singles, was fronted by Fabrice Morvan and Rob Pilatus. However, it was discovered that they lip-synced on their records and didn't actually sing the songs they released.

John's voice, among others, was actually the one recorded.

Following the lip-syncing scandal, John and fellow ghost singer Brad Howell formed The Real Milli Vanilli. The group released only one album, The Moment of Truth, in 1991.
