Cannabis lounges and party buses are one step closer to becoming a reality in Aurora, according to KDVR.

On Monday, August 23, Aurora City Council voted six to three in the first vote for a proposal that would allow the operation of several marijuana hospitality businesses.

Under the proposal, two types of cannabis lounges would be allowed, reports KDVR. Existing dispensaries would be able to apply to let customers bring their own marijuana inside to consume. The second option lets businesses let guests buy marijuana on site.

According to city officials, a maximum of 24 licenses would be issued for each type of cannabis lounge.

These lounges would have to be at least 1,000 feet away from any schools, hospitals, and rehab facilities, according to regulations.

Guests must be 21-years-old and marijuana can not be seen from the outside.

The proposal also includes marijuana party buses, which would have to log routes.

Guests onboard would be prohibited from smoking in jurisdictions that do not allow for cannabis buses. Both lounges and buses would not allow alcohol or tobacco on site.

Aurora's second vote on the proposal is expected to happen on Monday, September 13.
