THE BIG STUFF FOOD TRUCK IS ON AT 2PM As they kicked off our first Food Truck Friday we're bringing them back for Food Truck Tuesday to maybe feel normal. Find out where they will be next by following them here!

IS IT REALLY THAT PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO WORK AT THIS POINT? I was right there over the summer, blaming the people on "funemployment" for not wanting to work. I fully expected people to rush back into the workplace when their money ran out. They I talked to a dear friend, who I know has been literally doing EVERYTHING she can to find a new job at this point only to find out that she has put in 150 resumes to get two interviews and five letters and was completely ghosted by the rest of the companies she applied to. She's applied for everything she's remotely qualified to do, and stuff that has ZERO requirements just to get back into the workforce and the companies where she is applying can't be bothered to even follow up with a "no thank you". Then I saw this article about a man in Florida, who just for fun, applied for 60 entry level jobs at a bunch of businesses who had been really vocal about no one wanting to work. Guess what?

Two weeks and 28 applications later, he had just nine email responses, one follow-up phone call, and one interview with a construction company that advertised a full-time job focused on site cleanup paying $10 an hour.
But Holz said the construction company instead tried to offer Florida's minimum wage of $8.65 to start, even though the wage was scheduled to increase to $10 an hour on September 30. He added that it wanted full-time availability, while scheduling only part time until Holz gained seniority.

Read the rest here, but it's something that more and more people are now talking about. Here is an article from September talking about how employers have been ghosting job seekers for years. Perhaps it's been an employers market for so long businesses have forgotten what it takes to woo employees? Perhaps some businesses are building up cash reserves to bounce back from last year and just BLAMING the lack of workers on the crappy service we're all expected to take for granted now? Perhaps having everyone apply online isn't working? Perhaps wages suck so bad no one wants your crappy job? Businesses have a lot of explaining to do, but I'm sort of done with the "no one wants to work" crap anymore.

DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE 85 ORGANIZATIONS SERVING THE HOMELESS IN DENVER? It hardly seems that we have a service gap for homeless people except in the area of drug and alcohol and mental health treatment. We have a huge gap there as they only make up 3% of the services offered out of that 85. What I love is the "advocacy" organizations. Do they do anything besides agitate for more freedom, less enforcement and the making of homelessness easier for those who have adopted it as a lifestyle choice? I have no clue but it sure seems that way.

IF YOU'RE LOST AND YOU KNOW IT, TAKE THE DAMN CALL This is beyond stupid. A hiker gets lost trying to navigate Mount Elbert and when Search and Rescue was looking for him, they called multiple times but he sent rejected the call because he didn't recognize the number. This person deserves to be lost for a very, very long time.

A JUDGE SHOULD RULE ON THE DOUGCO V DOUGCO MASK CASE This is about the new Douglas County Health Department's new rule allowing parents to opt out of having their kids wear masks. Parents of a couple of kids with medical conditions want to force every kid back into masks because of the fear their children MAY get sick and have an adverse outcome. The Public Health Department argued, I think rightly, that this could upend the Americans with Disabilities Act limitless and could be used to force kids into masks for any serious respiratory virus outbreak, including the flu, which is demonstrably worse for kids than covid. We'll see what he says today.

IF DOUGCO SCHOOLS IS RIGHT, WHY DON'T WE FORCE KIDS INTO MASKS FOR FLU SEASON I mentioned that the Douglas County Public Health made the argument that if a judge forced kids into masks for covid, they should for the flu too. This column makes the same argument very well.

THE SCIENCE IS NOT ON THE SIDE OF THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD ON MASKS And here is another editorial that lays out the myriad of ways these people have been duped into thinking wearing a mask is going to do anything.

HERE'S YET ANOTHER STUDY THAT SHOWS NATURAL IMMUNITY IS BETTER THAN VACCINE IMMUNITY And if the CDC was run by people who gave a crap about science they would stop forcing people who already HAVE superior immunity from getting a shot they don't need. But we don't live in that world anymore. Be sure and click through the links in this story to the underlying story that shows ALL THE STUDIES that show natural immunity is better.

THE BABYLON BEE TEACHES HOW TO BE PROPERLY WOKE And I am adopting all of these immediately. Not really.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM VENEZUELA? John Stossel shows us the warning signs we should pay attention to from the failed formerly prosperous nation.

HEY GUESS WHAT? UNIONS ARE SPENDING BIG TO KEEP CONTROL OVER YOUR KIDS This is not the least bit surprising and one reason we need to do away with campaign finance laws in these school board races. The unions have dropped over 300 grand into JeffCo races for school board. Why would they do that? Why wouldn't they when they've been able to buy school boards just like this for years.

GET READY TO CHOKE ON THE PRICE OF THANKSGIVING Because everything you want to serve is going to cost a whole lot more this year. Let's Go, Brandon! (if you don't get that reference ask someone) Read how much more here.
