Two Florida homeowners were shocked to find their Jacksonville house, with an estimated value of $2.3 million, was listed on Zillow for just $21,000.

The Florida Union-Times captured a screenshot of the scam listing before it was pulled down Tuesday afternoon (June 28). The home reportedly comes with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and over 5,700 square feet of property, but the "seller" noted that the $21,000 price tag is a typo. The scammer was asking for "$22,000" in cash from a first-time homebuyer.

"I'm selling my home inexpensively because, my family own many properties across the country," the deleted listing reads. "A few times a year we sell one or a few of our homes to first time buyers for under $50,000. This is done as a tax rite off for us, & to bless a family or individual that needs it, & as being a first time buyer, may not be able to get a home otherwise."

Reporters also learned potential homebuyers needed to pay a $2,000 cash deposit via Zelle before viewing the home. They believe the scammers wanted to get money from deposits while using photos of the homes that aren't for sale.

“It was a surprise for sure,” Jan Hirabayashi, one of the homeowners, told reporters “I was confused how it could be listed, obviously.” She says a neighbor and realtor contacted her about the fraudulent listing and reported it to Zillow.

Hirabayashi provided documents proving that she owned the home to the website, but she couldn't claim ownership on Zillow -- possibly due to the scammer claiming ownership already.

“I’m just hoping Zillow does its thing,” she said. “I just finished furnishing it so I’m not ready to sell it yet.”

The Florida Union-Times confirmed the listing was taken down 20 hours after it was posted. It racked up 1,000 views and 100 saves while it was available.
