From ABC 13 - WSET Meteorologist Sydney Welch:

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Remnants of what is now Tropical Storm Nicole will swing our way with pockets of heavy rain and a lot of wind energy. This wind will be both straight line and rotating.

Rain totals 1" to 3" across the board. The highest flood potential will be for the higher elevations and just east of the Blue Ridge.

The timing for the first round of rain will be from the early morning to about 11 a.m.

The second round enters by commute/dinner time after a break in the showers.

More on this story from our media partner, ABC 13 - WSET.

GUSTY SHOWERS - STRAIGHT LINE WINDS - ROTATING WINDS We are watching Nicole as it swings rain our way by Friday. Most of us will see gusty showers, but isolated warnings are possible. Pockets of heavy rain are likely, coming in as bands. Downpours are likely along with gusty winds. Some of the winds could be rotating, making tornado warnings possible.
