Ozzy Osbourne admitted to having misgivings about returning to television with his family's upcoming BBC documentary series Home to Roost, which will follow his and wife Sharon Osbourne's return to residence in England after more than two decades in California.

The 10-part series will focus on the Osbournes getting settled in the rural community of Buckinghamshire, England. But Ozzy isn't sure he wants to be a TV star again.

"There is rock 'n' roll fame, which is pretty intense, but that Osbourne-level was just unbelievable," Ozzy recalled of his family's hit MTV show in a recent radio interview. "The kids paid for it. They all ended up doing drugs. Jack got clean and sober on that show, Kelly messed up on that show, I was messed up and Sharon got cancer."

Ozzy said he initially refused the idea of Home to Roost, but was convinced by Sharon on account of the show being a more limited series, not open-ended like The Osbournes was. The Prince of Darkness also acknowledged that his family's first go-around on TV gave Sharon a "new career" as a TV personality.

While Ozzy has previously pointed to America's gun violence issues as a motivating factor in the move back to his home country, more recently he has waffled on the idea of the move, admitting in one interview this past fall that he is "American now."

Not mentioned among his concerns over the new TV show was his ongoing health issues, including Parkinson's disease and recovery from spinal surgery last June.

Ozzy remains focused on getting back on tour this year. Despite his limitations, Ozzy insists he still has "a lot in the tank," if he can only get healthy enough to get started.

One benefit of the Osbourne's move back to England is that it will finally put Ozzy and his fellow Black Sabbath cofounder Tony Iommi in the same time zone again. While the former bandmates reportedly communicated every day during the height of the pandemic, Iommi complained that they were soon limited to just texting because Ozzy kept forgetting about the time difference between them and calling in the middle of the night.
