Gabby Barrett added her voice to a soon-to-release version of Colton Dixon’s inspiring anthem, “Build a Boat.” The two American Idol alums shared a snippet of the duet on social media on Monday (January 23), announcing that it would be available at the end of the week. Dixon, who competed on season 11 of American Idol  in 2012, released “Build a Boat” last year. The contemporary Christian singer-songwriter, 31, has also shared an acoustic version of the song and a studio performance with international faith-based charity Mercy Ships.

“I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains/ I will stand up in faith, I'll do anything it takes/ With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades/ I’ll build a boat in the desert place/ And when the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah/ I’ll ride the storm 'cause I got You by my side/ With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades/ I’ll build a boat, so let it rain”

The new version of “Build a Boat” comes as Barrett — who competed on season 16 of American Idol, where she met her husband, fellow singer-songwriter Cade Foehner — has been working on new music of her own. The country star previously shared a sneak peek of her sophomore album, confirming that she was “at work” with Album. No. 2, and asked her social media followers: “What do you want to hear? Who do you want a duet with?”

Barrett released her debut full-length album Goldmine in 2020, following it up with the Goldmine (Deluxe), an extended version that includes a few additional songs: “Pick Me Up,” “Never Get It Back,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “The Good Ones (Wedding Version).”
