Jimmie Allen’s artistry knows no bounds.

The genre-blending country superstar recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show — when he also premiered his new music video for “be alright,” from his 17-track album named after the street his grandmother lived on in Delaware, Tulip Drive — and spoke about being “a huge musical theater fan.” Kelly Clarkson couldn’t resist asking Allen about the song that the “Best Shot” artist sings as a “pre-show ritual.”

“Before every show when I’m on my bus getting ready, I listen and I sing the song ‘Popular’ from Wicked. That’s my jam. I play it, I’m putting my jewelry on, got my skinny jeans on and I look in the mirror…” Allen said, kickstarting an impromptu, theatrical rendition of the iconic song from the beloved musical. He added later, “I love theater. I listen to it while I’m driving. I listen to the whole soundtracks.”

Clarkson wanted to know, would Allen ever consider performing in a movie-musical?

It turns out, Allen might be trying to manifest that.

“One of my dreams is to play Aaron Burr on Hamilton,” Allen said, spotlighting other actors who have taken on the role, including Wayne Brady, who starred as Burr in Chicago, and Leslie Odom Jr., the original Broadway actor. “I did theater all through high school and college. I wanna go to Broadway.”
