A school psychologist in Florida was arrested on charges of possessing child pornography. The Miami-Dade Police Department said that a tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that somebody had uploaded child pornography to social media on May 25.
The pair of videos were distributed to over 50 users. An investigation revealed that the videos were posted by 62-year-old Robert Lee Turner. When officers went to his home on Monday (August 12), he barricaded himself inside his bathroom and refused to come out.
Eventually, officers broke down the door and took Turner into custody. He was charged with five counts of possession of sexual performance by a child material, two counts of promoting sexual performance by a child, and one count of resisting arrest without violence.
"Robert Lee Turner is a counselor for Miami-Dade Public Schools. He traveled from school to school within the school district and has been in contact with numerous children," said Miami-Dade Police Department Detective Andre Martin. "What's even more disturbing is he was a counselor for children with special needs, who tend to be the most vulnerable of our juvenile population."
Miami-Dade County Public Schools said that Turner had been fired.
"Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is deeply troubled by the disturbing allegations made against this individual. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. As such, the individual's employment with the District has been terminated, and he will be precluded from seeking future employment with M-DCPS," the school district said in a statement.
