President Joe Biden was seen wearing a hat promoting former President Donald Trump's campaign during an appearance at the Shanksville Fire Station in Pennsylvania on Wednesday (September 11).

The photo showing Biden wearing a "Trump 2024" hat, was shared by the Trump War Room X account with the caption, "Thanks for the support, Joe!" White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President Andrew Bates quickly addressed the incident on his X account shortly after the post went viral.

"At the Shanksville Fire Station, @POTUS spoke about the country's bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that. As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap. He briefly wore it," Bates wrote.

The photo was shared hours after Biden and Trump appeared in Manhattan for a September 11 memorial event, which saw the former president shaking hands with his 2024 election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, hours after their heated debate in Philadelphia. Photos shared by Getty Images show the two candidates being cordial as they stood next to Biden and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Harris and Trump met for the first time during their debate in Philadelphia, which saw Harris go over to Trump and introduce herself with a handshake that wasn't required in the debate stipulations.
