Chad Michael Murray really tried to get out of a "terrible" scene on One Tree Hill that went down as one of the most shocking moments in the show's history.

Anyone who has watched OTH remembers the infamous hospital scene where Dan Scott, played by Paul Johnsson, was awaiting a heart transplant only for the organ to be dropped on the floor and immediately eaten by a dog. While fans were left speechless at the surprising mishap, so was Murray, who starred as Lucas Scott, Dan's son, on the beloved teen drama, per E! News.

In a recent joint interview with fellow OTH alum James Lafferty for People, the Freaky Friday actor revealed he even begged not be a part of it.

"I remember I begged and pleaded, begged and pleaded, 'Please, I don't need to be there. There is no need for Lucas Scott to be there,'" he recalled. "'If you really want to do it, fine. Go ahead and write the scene, but it's terrible.'"

After listing out the series of unfortunate events that led up to the wild moment, from a "stoned dog who had the munchies" after eating pot brownies being at the ER to Dan's character witnessing the entire thing knowing "that's probably his heart that just got eaten," Murray said, "The scene went down in infamy."

Six seasons into the show at that point, the actor wasn't afraid to voice his concerns and share his ideas about what was happening on screen.

"I remember I started to care a lot more and I started to really get more involved," he said. "I was older and starting to try and take ownership of my things. Instead of 20 or 21, I was probably 25. I saw it, read the script and I knew exactly what they were doing."
