Travel At MCO Disrupted By Delays And Cancellations

(Orlando, FL) --Things should soon be back to normal at Orlando International Airport after a hectic Sunday. MCO had over 2-hundred delays and cancellations yesterday on what was expected to be the busiest day of the 12-day holiday travel period. Over 177-thousand people were expected to pass through the airport. The disruptions are being blamed on weather outside the area.    

St. Pete Man Arrested For Stealing Cybertruck During Test Drive

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- A St. Petersburg man is accused of stealing a Cybertruck during a test drive and damaging it. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says the 26-year-old stole the truck about two weeks ago from a Tesla dealership on 35th Street North. Deputies say an assistant manager found the truck at the suspect's home two days later. The truck had apparently sustained about 20-thousand dollars in damages. The suspect is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief. 

Mount Dora Police Crack Down On Abuse Of Handicapped Placards

(Mount Dora, FL) --A recent operation in Lake County could serve as a warning to those who misuse handicapped placards. Mount Dora Police announced yesterday they seized over 30 handicapped placards over two days at Walmart and Target. The MDPD says the goal was to protect accessible parking spaces for those who truly depend on them. Police say they'll continue to take steps that support accessibility and fairness for all members of our community.

Police Searching For Man Who Left His Gun In An Oven

(Des Moines, IA) --Police in Des Moines, Iowa are searching for a man they believe left a gun in a heating oven causing it to discharge multiple times. Police say Dameian Buckner was injured when the heated gun went off on its own. Buckner is accused of being in possession of two firearms as a felon and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Police say Buckner was in possession of a "delivery quantity" of marijuana when officers were investigating the gun shots at his home.

2023, the US House of Representatives voted to expel indicted member George Santos. He faced federal charges of wire fraud, identity theft, and making false statements.

1969, the U.S. government held its first draft lottery since World War Two. 

1955, seamstress Rosa Parks was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama. Police took Parks into custody after she refused to give up her seat in the front of a bus to a white man. The arrest sparked a year-long boycott of the buses by blacks. The U.S. Supreme Court eventually ruled that segregation on city buses was unconstitutional and struck down the law.

1952, the first successful sexual reassignment surgery is reported by the New York Daily Post.

1941, Japanese Emperor Hirohito signed a declaration of war against the United States, United Kingdom and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Days later, on December 7, 1941 Japanese forces struck at the U.S. Fleet in Pearl Harbor.
