My new CSI report on cost of living in Denver

I'm honored to be the Mike A Leprino Free Enterprise Fellow at the fantastic (and non-partisan) Common Sense Institute. My latest report should be of interest to many KOA listeners...even if you don't live in Denver: Denver Metro Household Budget Pressure

Coming soon to a TV near you

The new Netflix documentary, "Elway", will be available starting December 22. I'm TRYING to get John for an interview one day soon to talk about it.

Speaking of "on TV"

This is quite an interesting interview. One does wonder whether this represents a weakening of Trump's grip on MAGA or if it's just MTG getting tossed out of Trumpworld with no real impact on the larger MAGA movement. I'm not close enough to MAGA to have a strong opinion but my suspicion is that Trump has disappointed much of MAGA. Doesn't mean they're abandoning him, though. But will they turn out for Republican candidates, even those endorsed by Trump, in 2026 and in 2028?

For the record, I think MTG makes a couple of legit points here...and she's still a blight on Congress and I can't wait for her to be gone though I wonder if that district in north Georgia will elect someone who's any better. She's absolutely right that much congressional support of President Trump is due to fear of a nasty social media post by him. How about her idiotic comment that Trump was "serving Israel's interests" by killing Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian general who, through his support of Iran's terrorist proxies, was responsible for the deaths of many Americans.

Just One Thing: Questioning the drug boat strikes doesn't make one pro-cartel

Here's my latest Substack. Please read and subscribe: Questioning the "drug boat" strikes is not supporting drugs or cartels

Here's the beginning of my note:

I suspect that most Americans believe that:
The president can declare any group whom he perceives as harming United States interests as “terrorists”
People trafficking drugs into the United States are as dangerous as the people we usually think of as terrorists and therefore obviously worthy of that designation
The act of trafficking drugs which we know are likely to hurt and kill Americans is similar enough to an overt armed attack on the US that it deserves a similar response from the US government
Any member of such a “terrorist” group can legitimately be the target of a lethal military strike, at any time or place, no matter what
Based on some combination of the above, the US strikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific are justified and legal
I also suspect that none of these things is true, perhaps other than the first half of the second bullet point: those trafficking certain drugs are part of the cause of harm to Americans (though we should also be clear that they are satisfying demand already coming from Americans.)

Again, please read and subscribe: Questioning the "drug boat" strikes is not supporting drugs or cartels

Today's Guests

As I write this on Sunday afternoon, I don't yet know which members of our KOA Broncos broadcast team will be on the show but we're aiming to have Rick Lewis (in studio), Susie Wargin, and Dave Logan join us. Dave's Cherry Creek High School football team just won the 5A championship for the 15h time with a blowout 56-28 win over second seed Ralston Valley. It's Dave's 13th championship -- with four different schools -- a state record.
