Out of the mouths of babes.
While looking back at some of her past films during a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Hilary Duff reflected on the "age-old question" left in the wake of A Cinderella Story, the 2004 rom-com starring Duff as Sam and Chad Michael Murray as her love interest Austin, per People.
She even revealed that her 4-year-old daughter Mae has seen the beloved movie and has the same question that has been on everyone's minds for more than 20 years: How did Austin not realize Sam was his masked love?
"My 4-year-old has watched this movie and also picked up on like, how could he not know it's you in that mask? And I was like, 'It's the age-old question, honey,'" she said. "And she's like, 'But it's you. You are right there. I don't understand. How does he not know?' I'm like, 'I know.'"
Duff shares Mae, as well as daughters Banks, 7, and Townes, 1, with husband Matthew Koma. She is also a mom to son Luca, 13, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
The "Mature" singer's reflections on her acting career weren't the only throwback delighting fans this week. During the first night of her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour on Monday (January 19), she performed some of her biggest hits as well as a classic Lizzie McGuire song that she performed live for the very first time.
