Cody Johnson confirmed new album details on Thursday (April 16).

The country hitmaker will deliver Banks Of The Trinity this summer. Johnson opened up about the title track and the cover art in a post on Instagram. He reflected, “when I heard the song ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ for the first time, it was like a portrait flashed in my head of memories I thought I’d forgotten. It took me straight back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the river.

“That’s why I chose a photo of Lawrence’s Grocery Store for the album cover,” he continued. “As a kid, I used to ride my bike two miles down an old dirt road just to get a cream soda and a Blue Bell ice cream bar. I’d sit there and listen to the old men talk for a while before heading back home with a basket of groceries. This record is my way of going back to those dirt roads. I can’t wait for you to come with me on that journey back.”

Johnson confirmed as he made his album announcement that the first track, “I Want You,” will release on Friday (April 17). The song will be the latest release since “Footlights,” the Texas-born country star’s cover of a ‘70s classic by late legend Merle Haggard. Johnson released his rendition on April 6, a decade after Haggard’s death. He died on his 79th birthday. Johnson’s latest full album is the 25-track deluxe edition of Leather, which he released in November 2024. That project included “Dirt Cheap,” collaborations with Jelly Roll, Brooks & Dunn and Carrie Underwood, “The Fall,” and more.

Johnson’s “I Want You” arrives on Friday, and his full studio record, Banks Of The Trinity, will make its debut on June 26. See Johnson’s announcement here:
