Megan Moroney paid tribute to beloved country legend Dolly Parton by recreating one of her most iconic looks.

Moroney, 28, recreated Parton’s 1974 Jolene album cover as part of PEOPLE’s Icon’s Only feature in the publication’s World’s Most Beautiful issue. The Cloud 9 artist’s feature published on Tuesday morning (April 21). The annual World’s Most Beautiful issue spotlights celebrities “who are redefining beauty, living life on their own terms and inspiring us all along the way,” per PEOPLE. Moroney beamed over her appreciation for Parton and her music, looking to the legend for style inspiration, how she recreated Parton’s hair for the album cover photos, and more.

“I don't remember an age where I learned these songs; I feel like I was born, and I knew them,” Moroney told PEOPLE. “So I blame my mom for playing a lot of Dolly Parton in the car. I grew up in a household where it was like, ‘In this house, we respect Dolly Parton.’”

“Dolly has inspired my style because she's always thought more is more, and I'm right there with you, girl — I love dressing up,” Moroney continued with PEOPLE. “As someone who also loves to dress up, wear a lot of makeup, have a lot of hair, I think owning it and just knowing that this is all fun, but who I am on the inside is the most important part. I don't know Dolly personally, but I think she has a heart of gold, the way that she gives back and how gracious and kind she is. …I usually use extensions, but there's not enough extensions in the world to get Dolly Parton hair,” Moroney shared. “So we had to go not one wig, but two!”

Moroney, one of the most-nominated artists at the upcoming 61st ACM Awards, spoke about her appreciation for Parton while gearing up for her headlining “Cloud 9 Tour.” The run of arena shows kicks off on May 29 in Columbus, Ohio, following the release of the Georgia-born country star’s third studio record. Cloud 9 includes the title track, “Medicine,” “6 Months Later,” “Beautiful Things,” “Wish I Didn’t,” “I Only Miss You” with Ed Sheeran, “Bells & Whistles” with Kacey Musgraves (a full circle moment for Moroney), and more.

“I think similar to my last tours, I'm setting it up to where it will be group therapy. There's a lot of highs, a lot of lows...You're going to be able to get it all out on this tour,” Moroney told PEOPLE. She previously said Cloud 9 was “written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
