Grammy-winner Phoebe Bridgers reportedly debuted a number of new songs at her first live performance in three years on Friday (May 8) in Roswell, New Mexico.
The "Smoke Signals" singer played signature songs at the no-phones, private concert, such as "Motion Sickness." She also performed numerous new tracks, alongside a video short previewing her upcoming new album, per Pitchfork. One of the new songs allegedly detailed the death of her father in 2023, the last time she played a live solo show up until now.
The musician, who was joined onstage by frequent collaborator Christian Lee Hutson, also reportedly told the crowd that the small show was a "test" for future live shows.
Last week, mysterious posters first began appearing around Roswell, indicating that Bridgers would be performing at the Liberty, a local venue. Per the flyers, "No cellphones, smart watches, smart glasses, cameras or recording devices allowed."
Though the rocker hadn't performed solo since 2023, she did play as part of boygenius ahead of the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she ultimately took home four wins. In 2020, Bridgers released her latest album under her own name, Punisher.
