Weezer is officially in Washington!

The Library of Congress added 25 recordings to the National Recording Registry on Thursday (May 14), including the rock band's seminal 1994 debut album, known as the Blue Album.

The group's self-titled debut featured iconic hits such as "Buddy Holly" and "Say It Ain't So," with the LP remaining the band's best-selling album to date.

"The album is an enduring, essential classic of the alternative rock age," the Library said in a statement posted on their website. "Weezer continues to have critical and commercial success and a dedicated multi-generational fanbase."

Since 2002, the Library of Congress selects a number of recordings each year that are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" to be archived in the National Recording Registry. The group's Blue Album joins the National Recording Registry this year, alongside other notable works such as Taylor Swift's 2014 album 1989 and Beyonce's 2008 smash hit "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."

Weezer is gearing up to hit the road this fall for a 32-city North American arena tour. The outing follows the band's sold-out "Voyage to the Blue Planet" tour in 2024, which celebrated 30 years of the Blue Album.
