Chase Rice’s dog steals “every show.”

The country star offered a glimpse of his black Labrador Retriever, Jack, “stealing” the show as he joined Rice on stage. Rice wrote on TikTok that Jack is “just happy to be there,” as he shared a clip of Jack “stealing” his recent free pop-up show at Losers Bar & Grill in Nashville, Tennessee’s Midtown neighborhood. During the show, Rice took the stage with some of his career-spanning hits and songs from his latest albums. He also delivered the surprise debut performance of his newest anthem, “Connie Lou,” which was inspired by his mom.

Rice wrote “Connie Lou” with producer Oscar Charles and Dan Couch. He told iHeartCountry that he shared the song with his mom for the first time at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. He remembered of that moment, “she had no idea that this was even happening. …I said, ‘Mom, I wrote you a song.’ She starts tearing up. She's like, ‘oh no,’ because half of my last records have been kind of sad and storytelling in the last few albums. I said, ‘no, no, no. It's a fun song. It's not going to be sad. Just know that.’ And so, we played it for her and she's freaked out a little bit, I think. …I think she's happy with the song. She's happy with the story, and she's happy that it's not a sad song for a change.”

Rice released emotional, personal stories — including about his late father — on I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell (2023), Go Down Singin’ (2024), and ELDORA (2025). He said he realized he hadn’t written as much about his mom, so he “thought it'd be really cool to write one about how they met and that love story from the '70s.” Listen to “Connie Lou” here:
