RaeLynn said an emotional Miranda Lambert ballad “completely wrecked me,” the first time she heard it.

The country star, 32, caught up with Kaitlyn Bristowe on a new episode of Off The Vine. During their conversation, Bristowe noted that Kelly Clarkson has said she wishes she wrote and recorded Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man.” Lambert wrote the 2021 Marfa Tapes song with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. Bristowe asked RaeLynn, what’s one song she wishes she wrote and recorded herself?

“There’s a few. But I would say one that still stops me in my tracks is ‘The House That Built Me’ by Miranda,” RaeLynn responded in an Off The Vine clip shared on Instagram. “When I heard that song, it just completely wrecked me, and then when you find out the story, like, Tom Douglas wrote that song. And it was a song that he worked on for literally 10 years or something wild. He rewrote it multiple times. And Tom Douglas is truly one of the greatest songwriters. His attention to detail… The first time I wrote with him, I was so anxious. It was just me and him, (I was) so nervous. But he just wanted to sit and talk, and it was practically like a therapy session for a while. And then as I was talking, he was writing, and then he was like, ‘well, what about this?’ And then literally, we wrote the song in like an hour. The song is just, by far, one of my favorites. …(Music) wrecks me.”

Throughout the podcast episode, RaeLynn also spoke about manifesting Dancing with the Stars, teased her tour dates with Luke Bryan, reflected on stories with Blake Shelton (she launched her career on Team Blake on The Voice in 2012), recapped the Country Music Association’s CMA Fest, and more.
