Megan Moroney Makes Emotional Statement After Abruptly Canceling Show

Megan Moroney shared an emotional statement after she abruptly cancelled her headlining show on Tuesday night (July 28).

Moroney, 28, cut her performance short after just a few songs on the Ball Arena stage in Denver Colorado. The Cloud 9 star wrote in a statement: “That was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make & I’m so sorry to cancel the show tonight.

“I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and by song 3 I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight,” she said. “I’m typing this as I’m quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room & it hurts me so much to disappoint you all. I will be back on August 27, and all tickets purchased for tonight’s show will be honored for the new date. If you can’t make the rescheduled date refunds are available at the point of purchase. I’ve never had to do this & I’m truly so sorry.”

Moroney tearfully addressed the audience as she cut her performance short on Thursday. She said the decision was “obviously the last thing I want to do, but I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better and then obviously two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight. I will make it up to you guys. I absolutely promise I will be back. Y’all will be able to come, but I want to give you the show you deserve and I’m probably going to go cry in my dressing room,” she said as fans erupted in cheers, per a fan-recorded video. One concertgoer can be heard yelling “we love you,” as the singer-songwriter spoke to the crowd.

“I’m sorry… this is like my worst nightmare,” Moroney continued. “I promise I’ll make it up to you guys like ten times and I love you and I’m really sorry. We’re going to work out the details and I’ll give y’all information as soon as I can. I’m really sorry, I love you guys.”

Moroney is in the midst of her headlining “Cloud 9 Tour” — her first-ever headlining arena run — after releasing her highly-anticipated third studio record earlier this year. Cloud 9 followed Am I Okay? in 2024, and Lucky in 2023. The Emo Cowgirl’s latest project includes the title track, “Medicine,” “6 Months Later,” “Beautiful Things,” collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, “Wish I Didn’t” and more. Moroney previously said “these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
