Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini Debut 'Confident, Flirtatious' New Collab

Little Big Town teamed up with Kelsea Ballerini on a “confident, flirtatious” storytelling collaboration that arrived on Friday (August 14).

“Closing Time,” which appears on Little Big Town’s upcoming studio record, “celebrates living in the moment as last call turns into a night that's too good to end,” states a press release. Ballerini wrote the song with the group’s Karen Fairchild, plus Jessie Jo Dillon, Hillary Lindsey and Alysa Vanderheym. Fairchild co-produced the track with Grammy-winning producer Gena Johnson (who previously worked with Jason Isbell, Dolly Parton, Brandi Carlile and more).

Little Big Town — made up of Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook — will release their new studio album, It’s A Dying Art, later this month. The 13-track project also includes “Hey There Sunshine,” “Over And Over,” “We Could Have It All,” “Sucker For A Sad Song” with Ashley Monroe, and more. The project “blends intimate storytelling, emotional balladry, and a focus on human-made music shaped by imperfection and lived experience,” according to the press release issued Friday morning. The record “reflects more than 25 years of chemistry and trust within the band.”

“This album was made in the middle of real life — grief, hope, and everything love costs and gives us. It’s a reminder to hold on,” Little Big Town shared when the group announced It’s A Dying Art earlier this year. “We can’t let love be a dying art.”

Little Big Town’s new album will arrive on August 28. This fall, the band will kick off their headlining “For The Art Of It Tour,” plus a three-night holiday residency at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
