Mickey Guyton put her own country spin on “The Climb,” an iconic, empowering ballad that Miley Cyrus performs in Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009.
Guyton has been sharing her own series of songs “that have always been country (to me).” Some of her previous covers include “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson, “Let Me Love You” by Mario, “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, and more. Guyton, who recently announced her first-ever holiday tour, said in her caption on Instagram “The Climb” “has always felt so country to me, from the melody to the lyrics, so this is my version🤠🫶🏽”
“There's always gonna be another mountain/ I’m always gonna wanna make it move/ Always gonna be an uphill battle/ Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose/ Ain't about how fast I get there/ Ain't about what's waiting on the other side/ It's the climb”
Cyrus debuted “The Climb,” written by Jessi Alexander and John Shanks, in Hannah Montana: The Movie. Cyrus scored her breakout role as the title character in the Disney show, which premiered in 2006. She played a teen living a double life as a famous pop star. Cyrus, who celebrated the 20th anniversary of the series premiere earlier this year, was 15 years old when she filmed the Hannah Montana movie, and turned 16 by the time it premiered in theaters. “The Climb” still resonates with audiences and other artists nearly two decades later. Guyton is one of the latest country artists to share her version of the song, along with Bailey Zimmerman, Restless Road, Lauren Alaina and more. Watch Guyton’s cover here:
