Ella Langley shared a heartfelt reaction as she scored another award for her history-making single, âChoosinâ Texas.â
Langley, 27, won the Best Country category at the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sunday (September 27), marking her first-ever VMA victory. She reacted on her Instagram story: âFirst VMA đ„č Knowing itâs fan voted makes it so much more special, thank you đ€â
Langley wrote her award-winning single, which appeared on her highly-anticipated sophomore album, with Miranda Lambert, Joybeth Taylor and Luke Dick. She directed the cinematic music video with Wales Toney and Caylee Robillard. The storytelling visual features Lambert, plus Yellowstone star Luke Grimes, actress and model Ava Phillippe, singer-songwriter Kaitlin Butts, and more. It was filmed at Stagecoach Ballroom in Fort Worth, Texas.
âWe were just having a writerâs retreat, and she [Lambert] was telling me this story about how she had a kangaroo in her passenger seat, and she got pulled over, and the cop was like, âoh, you have Texas plates.â And I went, âwell, sheâs from Texas, I can tell,â Langley said of the story behind the hit single on the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet earlier this year. âAnd literally just from that phrase, the âsheâs from Texas, I can tell by the way,â kind of just fell out, and I think we all latched onto that story of, âoh, he picked the other girl.â You know? He picked someone else. I think everyoneâs had a crush, and at some point that crush was more into somebody else at one point. If not, then lucky you or youâre lying.â
Langley was nearly speechless when she reacted to âChoosinâ Texasâ reading 23 weeks at No. 1, surpassing Mariah Careyâs iconic Christmas anthem, âAll I Want for Christmas Is You.â âChoosinâ Texasâ could still earn more honors later this year. Langley received the most nominations of any artist at the Country Music Associationâs 60th CMA Awards. The show will air on Wednesday, November 18 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC and Disney+, and the following day on Hulu. Find the full list of nominees here.
