(NEWSER) – Kate Elazegui and Emily Kehe have been married two years, and they have two newborn baby boys—born four days apart. The couple shares their story with NY Magazine, recounting how Kate, three years older than then-36-year-old Emily, started trying to get pregnant first.

After months with no successful inseminations, the couple decided Kate would try IVF once—and, at the same time, Emily would start the insemination process herself. "I think [the doctor] wanted us to have a positive result so badly, so she basically was like, 'Why not start Emily now? Because it might take a little while,'" Kate recalls. Kate says she raised the issue of both women ending up pregnant. "Oh the chances of you both getting pregnant are so slim," she recounts the doctor as saying. But that's exactly what happened.
