(NEWSER) – Security has been beefed up at federal buildings across the country—not because of any specific threat, but because of "world events," the Department of Homeland Security says.

The Federal Protective Service, which guards more than 9,500 federal courthouses and other buildings nationwide, boosted security measures over the weekend, days after a gunman made it into Canada's Parliament building, reports the Washington Post.
