President Obama says the Constitution is "pretty clear" on what should happen in the event of a vacancy on the Supreme Court.  In a news briefing in Rancho Mirage in California, Obama remarked that he intends to nominate a well-qualified candidate to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia in due time.

Obama said he's "amused" that strict interpreters of the Constitution are suddenly taking a looser approach to what the guiding document of the nation says on the subject.
