Tourists trapped on Mexico's west coast are bracing for a monster hurricane. Alan Uphold told Fox News that Hurricane Patricia's rapid growth not only took him by surprise, but hotel employees as well.
Uphold said his family has been told to lock themselves in their room and ride out the storm in the bathroom. He mentioned that he's got some food and insulin, but there's no telling how long he'll have to hold out. Hurricane Patricia is being called the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the western hemisphere. Its maximum sustained winds were last measured at 200 miles an hour.
