USC is moving forward without head coach Steve Sarkisian. The school has fired Sarkisian five games into his second season with the Trojans. The move comes after "Sark" was asked to take an indefinite leave of absence after multiple reports he arrived to the team facilities appearing to be intoxicated.
Southern California Athletic Director Pat Haden says it "is in the best interest of the university and our student-athletes." Clay Helton will step in as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Trojans fell to 3-and-2 with a 17-12 loss to Washington last week. They travel to face 13th-ranked Notre Dame this Saturday. Sarkisian went 12-and-6 with a bowl victory as USC head coach.
