Bieber released “Sorry” in late October as the second single from his album, Purpose. One Direction dropped “Perfect,” from their album Made In The A.M., just one week prior. Both songs are about relationships, and combining them makes a track in which a girl is told not just that her man is “sorry,” but that they can be “perfect” together.
The mashup, which was actually created a few days ago, prompted "#NewBand1DelightOfJB" to trend on Twitter on Saturday as both fan bases shared the track. While the two fandoms are often known for fighting with each other, the song is now bringing them together. One Directioner shared a photoshopped image of Liam Payne crying happy tears, writing, “When you see 2 biggest fandoms are actual slaying friends.”
Someone else exclaimed, "BELIEBERS AND DIRECTIONERS COMING TOGETHER IS SO CUTE." And a different individual wrote to One Direction fans, "BELIEBERS ARE HERE TO HELP YOU GET THROUGH THE BREAK. YOU GUYS ALWAYS GOT OUR BACK. WE’RE A FAMILY."
It’s a far cry from November, when the two fan groups went to war as Bieber and One Direction released their respective albums on the same day.
Bieber ended up with the number one album in the U.S., while One Direction took the top spot in their native U.K. With mashups, though, everyone’s a winner. Listen to “Sorry, You’re Perfect” above, as well as another called “As Long As You Drag Me Down,” below which combines Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” with One Direction’s “Drag Me Down.”
