Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Labar Aarings and Rady Win and Jonas Knox
one four Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, come on, yeah, it's cool man, we finally here.
I'm just pumped up. We're lifting. Oh we're lifting.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
It sounded like you were doing some physical activity.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
I picked out alleviating a couple of sparklets jugs, put
them on our shoulders and we're doing lunges down the hallway.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
We operate here this early, and it's not what we're doing.
Although I'm telling you my my two twenty five, My
sets are getting really good, guys. Yeah, yeah, it's getting easier,
starting to starting to feel good. I do. I do
five sets of ten, man, I knocked down to two
twenty five fifty times in the sitting. It's like I'm
pumped up, getting feel good. I'm starting to look like
(00:54):
Brady quinn man telling you one day it's going to happen.
That's a good I judge it not by how I
look when I go into the gym, but how I
look in a pair of slacks and a golf shirt
or or suit.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
That's that's it. That's a good way of judging it though.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
It's the perfect it's the perfect way. Actually, it's the
perfect way, and I haven't quite achieved Brady Quinn and
I may never achieved the Brady Quinn look to do
but ask him. But yeah, dang, I'm getting I'm getting
close to where I'm you know, hit my potential. Though
I kind of felt sexy, Yes, go.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
For the look. We're all black everything every.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Day because you can't eat food to achieve that one.
You know, some would say that you need to go
get help, and you know they need to. I mean,
it's it's really easy. It's a three step process.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Get a couple of bad tattoos, go to hot topic,
and just don't eat.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
It's really not that hard. It's really why you got
a brother named Tyrone and another brother that cooks barbecue.
Really well, Tyrone isn't the one that does the barber,
Adam the barbecue. It's been a while since I got
to burn in from from you know, Adam. We don't
know if some bad boys are fire too. You're all
leaning me now too, I am, but I can eat protein. Okay,
(02:09):
I need some burn ends now, I don't know, is
it not past eight o'clock?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
I don't know how much proteins in those burn ends,
but a lot of a lot of sugar, a lot
of other good stuff there. I'm just saying, there's you
know how you man, I'm not cracking on anybody. It's
that's a good stuff. Doesn't he have a restaurant?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah? My other brother, Wait the other one? Oh so
Tyrone has the restaurant. And but Adam is the one
that could. Adam helps, you know, run the restaurant. Oh
so they're in it together. Yeah, okay a family. Is
it called Tyrone's? It should have been I wish should
it should have been called tyrone I wish sunset terrorists, baby.
That's although it would be interesting to see when it
(02:48):
opened up and he said, welcome to Tyronees. What what's
your clientele? It was weird that Lee was outside for
two hours, was out there.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Lying around. But what.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
They're said, this place was called Tyrones They all Bayton
switched Johnson.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Oh you hit me with the whole but on the tailpipe.
But it is two pros and a cup of Joe.
Here on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox,

(03:40):
the NFL season is here opening night later on tonight.
Who's fired up for Lions Chiefs to kick this old
bad boy off?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Man? Come on?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I mean, I'm kind of more curious to see what
happens with Kelsey and the Chiefs and what the offense
looks like if he's out there, if he's not. And
I hate the fact that it's the first game of
the season and I'm already having to look into like
you're already concerned about an injury.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
You know, Chris Jones won't be there.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
I just there's certain things that are frustrating about the
NFL and take away a little bit from it, and
it's the business of it at times, and obviously the
injury factor, but that's the only downside is like you
wish you were getting both teams at full strength. I
think Detroit's going to be a full strength I don't
know that Casey will be. And so to kick things
(04:29):
off like right out the gate that you don't have
that a little disappointing, but I'm just glaud footballs here, man.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
The NFL is finally here, and here we go.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
It's NonStop until after that Super Bowl and we'll be
out there in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
So that'll be fun.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yeah, I'm excited to see if the Detroit Lions are
as good as advertised, because there's some people that had
the lines coming out of the NFC, like that's how
much people have spoken of or how highly people feel
about this Detroit Lions team. I'm curious to see how
well they do.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
You.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
As far as the chiefs, I think I'm kind of
online on par with UQ, Like I'm interested to see
what the defense is capable of doing what they look
like Chris Chris Jones list uh defense and a Kelsey
less offense. And and this could only be a stage
(05:21):
set for people to say that the brilliance of Patrick
Mahomes is continue to growing and as he moves forward,
because to me, I don't I don't see him if
he has a you know, a rough outing. I don't
see anybody changing their opinion about about Patrick Mahomes. So
it'll be interesting to see if Patrick Mahomes can play
(05:42):
at a high level in the first game, the opening
game of the season, a primetime game, even without his
his safety blanket, and is his main target.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, So Travis Kelsey's got they're calling it a bone bruise.
He's got the hyper extension. There's some speculation, some people
thrown out that it's not only going to be.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Just the first week. You might miss a couple of weeks.
Bone b That's like an underrated serious injury. Man.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah, that's different, man. You know that's different. Ay.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
I when I dislocated my kneecap, you know what they
told me, They said, the bone bruise is going to
be there a while.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
It's like, it's just a bruie. It takes a really
really long.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Nine months, hate or nine months, Like, why would still
having pain?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
They're like, yeah, it's a bone. Brings me think about
what it would take to bruise a bone. I think
about that. Yeah, it's a lot going on something. Yeah,
some pain man's painful thing.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Brady brought up not being one hundred percent or at
full strength going into the season. Did you, guys, ever,
in any time in your NFL career, either enter a
season at full strength, or what was the longest you
got before injuries started biting you in the ass, Like,
what was the longest you guys?
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Injuries are just soword like, because when I say not
one hundred percent, it's not that you're injured. You just
don't fill one hundred percent unavailable to play. Oh that's
I mean, that's different.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I mean I had a concussion in the final preseason
game and I remember them labeling it as a neck injury.
And I wasn't even the starter then, I was the backup,
but they wanted to make sure in case something happened,
like they we were good. And so I remember coming
off of that thing and like, damn all right, I
mean this is how we're doing it. But like I
(07:26):
was one of those players who was kind of ignorant
to the whole, you know, head injury thing, and I
just was raised in a way where like you were
going to play unless you physically couldn't get yourself off
the field.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
So I remember doing that one year.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
I remember one year I had a high ankle spring
and at the time we had Mike Furry one of
our wide receivers or no excuse me, it was Kevin Casper,
That's who it was. He was like, hey man, you
got to try this this electrical stem.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I'm like, all right, what's it called. He's like, it's
called the ARP.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
And so I started using that, and it was one
of the most painful things.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Dude.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
You would attach these electrodes to the bottom of your
foot and like right above your knee, and then you
put your foot in a bucket of water. And it's
because the water would help amplify the.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
The current because it's going all throw up your leg
up and down.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
What And he would just he would just crank this
thing up to one hundred and your whole.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Your whole leg with getting taste. I was like, oh
my gosh, this is the worst feeling ever.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
And I swear to you though I was. It happened
after the second preseason game, and I was fine by
week one, Like I never experienced anything like that. To
turn it around so fast like I had, I had
them tape it a certain way. But that thing, I'm
telling you, that ARP, that whole stem protocol and everything
(08:54):
we did that got me back right where I was
almost one hundred percent by week one.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Do you ever use it again? I mean yeah, like
I would.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
There's all there's all sorts of stuff to like, you
can use it to warm up, you can use it
for all.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Types of things. So electric I'm sure heard about it.
You probably saw people.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Using electric shock and a bucket of water.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
It's an electrical stems ins, electrical stimulation, that's.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
What it is. I have seen it. That's fine. Yeah,
see sounds fun. Yeah. I mean, I'm feeling like I
may have done it before. I don't. I don't know.
I don't recall everything and all the little things that
I did. But there are a lot of things that
you do to try to stay healthy and to get
(09:36):
back healthy. And I mean the ivy, the IV treatments
was just becoming the thing when I was in the league,
and it freaked me out. Like they had me convinced
that guys was putting fruit, fruit juice and stuff in
their arms like to get back right, you know, and
a little tampico. Yeah. Man, it was like like people
(09:57):
started using specialized doctors and stuff, like you know, people
were coming in It's like, yeah, you know, my guy
be at the house today, come through. Like we used
to have like rehab parties. Man, Like we're in the house,
you know, watching Monday night football and there's like four
or five tables set up in a basement where you're
getting treated, you know, just to try to you know,
(10:20):
feel right. It's the craziest it's the craziest things. And
you start to realize though that and taking care of
your body, and you hear about how much money these
guys are spending, you know, on taking care of their bodies.
I feel like I cheated myself out of, you know,
some years of playing ball because I didn't start understanding
the preventative measures that you take in order to prepare
(10:44):
yourself for for a season. And then once you get
into the season and you start feeling those aches and
pains from doing what you're doing and competing that you know,
just just the amount of maintenance that it takes to
you know, try to make sure that your body is
in total alignment, because once you're once you're out of alignment,
(11:06):
you're you're now wearing down cartilage, like the cartilage on
one knee was I was wearing down the outside pad
of my cartilage on my left knee and the next thing,
you know, my right knee is starting to get microfractures
because I'm off balance because of my left knee. And
then next thing, you know, I'm blowing out my achilles
(11:27):
tending on my left side because I'm overcompensating for what
I got going on with my knee on my right side,
and then now my lower back is acting like it's
People don't really understand the level of trying to achieve
physical balance as an athlete. Like and maybe some people
(11:50):
do who you know, do physical activity and their jobs
and their everyday jobs, and maybe like a construction worker
or you know, different people like that. People are on
their feet, you know, service members and stuff like that.
They get a feel for what it's like. But it's
like when you're going out there and you're inflicting physical
pain on yourself, you know, in the course of competing.
(12:13):
It's you know, it's it's really important that you try
to achieve a balance of how you feel. Like the
slightest thing, like people pulling your leg, like one leg
is it seems to be a little shorter than the
other today, maybe because your lower back is out of
alignment or whatever it may be. It's every little thing
that matters. It's the craziest thing. But yeah, man, I
(12:35):
mean it's it's hard to say you're ever at one
hundred percent when you're playing the game. But I think
the one thing that we all can say is the
best thing for an athlete to do is to learn
all the time what your new normal is without losing
sight of the fact that you're trying to achieve. Feeling
good like a level of a status of your body.
(12:58):
Feeling good kind of match what your mind feels like.
It's a constant, that's a constant battle every day, so
never it never ends. Just get on the gas. That
doesn't It doesn't, I mean it does. It doesn't change it.
You might feel stronger and different, things might feel different,
but it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
It doesn't change what a fun way to go out though,
you know, dry fast one last time on the way
out the door.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
You know, you know there's options. I bet you there's
a lot of dudes that subscribe to it. I didn't
start realizing that until I was done playing. I kind
of hate that.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
I think there was a lot of stuff Jonas used
to do to prepare for like shows or back when
he was uh you know performing.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You know, I know, man, you know, I wish I
would have tried to cheat a little bit, man, honestly,
like try to buck the system, use some performance enhancers
here and there. Man, I just never did. I never
thought to do it. I didn't know the right people.
You know the right people. I wouldn't in the right circles.
Is that you made ten more years like geez.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Speaking of the NFL season, it is time to make
some picks, all right, So lead to lap direct us please,
Who's got what?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Who's starting with? What? How we doing this? That's right.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
We're going to be given our division winners, our wildcard teams,
and our official Super Bowl pick.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
And we're gonna start with Brady here.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
So Brady, go ahead, give us your division wins, those
wildcard teams, and your super Bowl pick.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Okay, I know we really want to plow through this.
I do have to give you rationale for it. Okay,
I told you guys about this, like playoff predictor dot Com,
this website you can go on it's really cool.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Pick every game throughout the NFL season.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
You can see what your results turn out for turnout
by they tell you like home games, away games, bye weeks,
all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
I did it.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
I always go with my first time that I do it,
because every time after that, I'm trying to manipulate like
what I did the time before to get a different result.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
So I don't know if any of this.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Is gonna happen, but this is what I got, Okay,
the AFC the number one overall seed at twelve and five,
winning the AFC South the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Wow. Now the Jaguars win.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
A tiebreaker over two other teams at twelve and five
in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs, who win the
AFC West as the number two seed, and the Cincinnati
Bangles as the three seed, who win the AFC North
at also twelve and five. And finally, I've got the
New York Jets winning the AFC East at eleven and six,
and the final three teams wildcard teams. I have Baltimore
(15:44):
at eleven and six and Cleveland the other wildcard team
from the AFC North at ten and seven, beating out
the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are also ten and seven, and
then finally in the last spot, the Denver Broncos at
ten and seven or the other wildcard team the AFC.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
For me, so, I have no idea if it's going
to work out this way, but I tried to.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
I tried to heavily waight home games and then bye
weeks and then after that, like factoring and things like
Chris Jones will be back for sure by week eight.
Hopefully Travis Kelsey will be healthier by that. Those sorts
of things. We've been factoring them all right, you want
to do NFC two league, Yeah, okay, this is this
is the one that surprised me the most.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
So the number one overall.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
See in the NFC, I got the Dallas Cowboys at
eleven and six. Yeah, they beat out the New Orleans Saints,
the winners of the NFC South via tiebreaker at eleven
and six. Then I've got San Francisco winning the NFC
West at ten and seven, and then Minnesota winning the
NFC North at nine and eight, beating out a wildcard
(16:50):
team in the Green Bay Packers at nine and eight.
My other two wildcard teams are the Philadelphia Eagles at
ten and seven and then Seattle Seahawks at nine and
eight as well. So a lot more parody kind of
grouping together there, but a lot of tiebreakers and a
lot of you know, I guess close ties between the
between the teams.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Excellent.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
So we have all your wildcard teams, your division winners.
What about your Super Bowl prediction?
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Go baby? Come on?
Speaker 3 (17:16):
All right? I have.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
The Jacksonville Jaguars losing to the Cincinnati Bengals to go
to win the AFC, so the Bengals represent the AFC
in the NFC. I have the Dallas Cowboys beating the
San Francisco forty nine ers to get to the Super
Bowl as well, So I've got Cincinnati facing the Dallas
(17:40):
Cowboys and ultimately the Cincinnati Bengals winning the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Wow, how about it, Cleveland guy supporting Cincinnati via playoff predictor?
Speaker 5 (17:50):
I actually had two, by the way, Cincinnati beating Cleveland
in the divisional round, no excuse me, in the wildcard
round of the AFC playoffs.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Look at that?
Speaker 7 (18:03):
All right?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Lee, who's next? All right?
Speaker 6 (18:06):
From Brady to LeVar, LeVar, let's start with your AFC teams.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
All right, I'm not gonna give I'm not going to
do records and all that stuff. I'm just give you
guys what I'm gonna say.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Go on the website next time. I'll tell you it's easy.
It takes like five ten minutes. It's fun.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah, you gotta sign up for it, though. But I
feel pretty strongly about what I got going on here.
I say I feel pretty good about it. And in
the AFC East, I have the Bills coming out on
top of the AFC East. In the North, I have
the Bengals winning and winning it. I have the in
the South the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the West, I have
(18:42):
the Chargers, And I know that might sound crazy, but
I think the Chargers will win the division. My wildcards
for the AFC clearly the Chiefs, and then I think
it's followed by the Dolphins and the Steelers and the NFC.
I have the Eagles coming out of the East. In
(19:03):
the North, I had the Lines Handle handling the North,
and in the South, I had the Saints winning the South.
And in the West I had the forty nine Ers
winning winning the West. For the wild cards, I actually
had the Commanders, the Vikings, and the Seahawks making it
into the playoffs. And and yes, that means that we
(19:25):
would see the Dallas Cowboys missing the playoffs. That would
also mean on the AFC side of it, the Jets
would be missing the playoffs if I'm prognosticating correctly. And
in the super Bowl, I think it's a repeat performance.
I think out of the out of the NFC, the
(19:47):
Eagles will will navigate it and out of the AFC,
even though they will be a wild card team. I
believe that the Chiefs will get it going in and
actually make it to the super Bowl and it'll be
a rematch. And who will did we make the super
Bowl prediction? Yeah? Make him? Come on, yeah, I mean
(20:10):
you gotta go join us now. You gotta beat well,
not well trying to sort of well, you've been on
the Steelers for a little while. I mean, I'm pretty
I was pretty I was pretty solid on what I'm thinking.
So I just wrote him out. I mean, it's not
my first time going through this exercise. Uh, but I
don't like to choose a super Bowl game. Come on,
you gotta pick one. I'm gonna go with the Chiefs.
(20:31):
You gotta beat the champ to beat the champ, So
I'm gonna still stick with the Chiefs to to go
back and back.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
For Dallas I got.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I just don't trust Dak. I don't trust him.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
I wish I could. I was just with Mike the
last weekend man, Like did y'all say he hits Tostitos
commercial as funny as hell?
Speaker 7 (20:52):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (20:53):
I just I just don't trust Dak. I don't know.
I can't get my mind wrapped around he's he can
take them to the super Bowl. I'm sorry, he's got
and if he proves me wrong, wonderful. You know what,
can't Micah? Why can't that defense team because they can't.
They can win the Super Bowl, but they can't take
them there. Damn, you gotta have it. You gotta have
a quarterback, man, you gotta have a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I feel like they got one.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
They do, but I don't know that he's the quarterback
that's going to take them to the to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Brandon Cooks now too right.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
I'm just saying, I don't know. I think the NFC
I just is going to swallow them.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Up to eleven so far, I don't feel like we're
a supporter.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Dang. I totally support Abdul Carter love him. That's my guy.
He will be totally fine. It was the first game,
and it was a pretty good and like really nice,
fine physical offensive line for West Virginia. As far as
with Michael Parsons, Michael Parsons is on par and on
pace to get Defensive Player of the Year and and
and could have the type of season depending on how
(21:55):
Quinn uses him.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
They haven't start.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Yeah, he's still on pace coming out of last season
because you know, you know how that works. C You
got to set yourself up to be in the running equity.
Yeah you got. But but you know, obviously I look
at using conversation.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
That's that's so true. If ever Pro Bowl voting, Yeah,
sometimes they just be like, you had.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
A Pro Bowl year. Yeah, but he made it. Yeah,
d was just made. Imagine being a middle linebacker with
Zach Thomas and and ray Lewis a middle backer, Like yeah,
you just forget I was really good. Yeah you are
you just not ray In Zach.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Yeah, you could have the best year of your life
and it really statistically could have been a better year.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
But they're taking ray Man. Yeah that's that happened.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Elet time, bro, that happened all the time. I remember.
The worst part was I remember we did it as
a team.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
We would always scheme it up to vote like for knowing,
like for a guy who like never had a shot,
because I don't think you could vote.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
For your own player, right, yeah, yeah you couldn't, but
I think.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
You had to vote for someone else.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
We would collectively vote for like the worst returners so
hopefully would get more votes that he get in the
Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
I'll never forget doing that.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
All right, fellas, we've got the pros. How about the
Joe Jonas. Let us know what your division winners are,
your wildcard teams.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
And some time for the main event. Here, let's see
here we go. Get that paper, can't.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Wait for here?
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Get that.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
Yeah, he's gonna have like the Toronto Argonauts or something.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Oh, come on, Stampedo, baby, Tom Free Stampeders. All right,
I'm gonna start out in the AFC. I'm gonna go
out West. I got the Chargers winning the AFC West.
I'm a little bit down on Kansas City right now.
We got problems Travis Kelcey, the Chris Jones stuff. So
I'm gonna go with the Chargers to win the AFC West.
I like the Jacksonville Jaguars to win the South. I
(23:41):
think that's pretty easy. I'm gonna take the Baltimore Ravens
to win the AFC North, and then I've got the
Buffalo Bills winning the AFC East. All is forgiven. Stefan
Diggs is a team captain. Nothing to see here. I
think the Bills bounce back after that poor playoff performance
last year. So as my division winners, my wild card
teams are going to be the Chiefs, the Jets, and
(24:04):
the Denver Broncos. As my wild card team, which means
the Cincinnati Bengals will not make the playoffs. My AFC
champion is the LA Chargers. I've got the Chargers coming
out of the AFC over in the NFC over the listen,
I know where my Are you winging it right now?
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Are you off the cuff with this?
Speaker 4 (24:27):
On the NFC, I've got the Seattle Seahawks winning the
NFC West. I've got the New Orleans Saints winning the South.
I've got the Detroit Lions winning the North and the
Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East. And my wild car
teams the forty nine Ers, the Eagles, and Brady Chicago
(24:48):
Bears as a wild car team in the NFC. And
then I've got the Dallas Cowboys coming out of the NFC.
They're going to be your NFC champ. And in the
Super Bowl, how got them Cowboys? Cowboys over the Chargers
in Las Vegas be there?
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Yes, Oh wow, I will say this. That'd be a
hell of a Super Bowl. Yeah, that'd be We have
a whole lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Look the Kellen Moore Bowl, Kellen Moore, Mike McCarthy going
at it. You know, X, couple of x's battling it out.
So we've got the Chargers and we've got the Cowboys
in the Super If.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
You're listening to this segment out there, crumble up what
Jonas just come on and throw it in the trash can? Yeah,
or take it out of and then throw it back
in there, or give it to Abdul so you could
smoke it. You're a jerky for that.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Lear is not wrong.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Like you might as well bet with like the favorites
in the AFC, Casey Flow whoever you want to throwing
the conversation and just take the favorites at this point, Yeah,
that's kind of.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
What it's been it has.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
I mean, San Francisco has been to three of the
last four NFC Championship games, so you have to think
about putting them in your NFC Championship game. We've all
Casey knows is the AFC Championship game. So I didn't
even have them going that far in a Why.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Yeah, went in the division doesn't even matter to case anymore.
Just as long as we win the a f C,
we're gonna win. To AFC, We're gonna win it when
it matters. If we got Mahomes, we're good, We're good.
We'll figure it out. That's what I'm going with. I'm
gonna trust that Mahomes. The experience of it, well the
best part.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
See the vision round. I got Cincinnati beating Case.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
And which that makes sense. That does make sense. Yeah, yeah,
that does make sense. Listen, there we go. That's our picks.
So if you like those, cool, If not, you can
kiss our ass. Let's we're roll with here for the
twenty twenty three season.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Take it's two pros and a cup of Joe here

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, all right, so coming up, I can't.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Let it go.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
I got disappointed enough they disappointed me. I looked at
the Ravens. I'm like, the Ravens is like, pick me,
pick me up, like I don't know you know me
to you mess me over.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
I think I might have him in the AFC title game.
It's like the ext you swear off and then all
of a sudden you see that the phone call come
in and you go, all right, fine one more time,
But this is me.
Speaker 2 (27:13):

Now we turn it over to Albert Breer, senior NFL
reporter at the MmpB. You can get him on Twitter
at Albert Brier. Albert Happy opening day in the NFL.
How we feeling here on a Thursday?
Speaker 7 (28:22):
Pretty good?
Speaker 3 (28:23):
How you guys doing good?
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Now? The Chiefs would probably feel better if Chris Jones
was in camp, if Travis Kelcey was feeling a little
bit healthy and getting ready to go for later on tonight.
I mean, first the Kelsey situation, what's your feeling from
people you've talked to? And then also how long could
this Chris Jones situation drag out for?
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Yeah? I think the Kelsey situation is going to go
right up until right up until the being active is
announced an hour and a half before kickoff. They're trying
to get him going. You know. The prognosis coming out
of it on Tuesday was the the ligaments were intact,
but there was a lot of swelling and so I'm
(29:05):
really they've been waiting for the swelling to come to
go down, and then you know, with the bone bruise,
it becomes a pain tolerance is you know, they're not
going to say that publicly because that puts the player
in a tough spot, but obviously it's a very painful thing.
It becomes you know, how functional can you be with it?
And so they're going to kind of work through that today.
Obviously if they if they give them the night off, then
(29:25):
there's a benefit of ten days of rest and then
he can come back, you know, for week two in
pretty good shape. So that's where Kelsey is. And then
you know, the Chris Jones thing has been complicated for
a while, and I actually think I actually think Nick
Bosa kind of gave Chris Jones an assist yesterday because
(29:45):
you know, the whole thing here has been you know,
if you're the Chiefs, do you go to the numbers
that that that Aaron Donald got, you know, and I
think the Chiefs try try to tell you that the
Nick Bosa numbers irrelevant, But you know, Chris Jones this
sort of game changing player where he could say, well,
you know, if Nick Bose is worth thirty four, then
(30:06):
I'm certainly worth thirty. So the divide is, as we've
talked about the last couple of weeks, guys has been
on you know, Aaron Donald's contract being an outlier versus
the rest of the defensive tackle market. What Quinton Williams got,
what Jeffrey Shimmons got, what Dexter Lawrence got, like in
that twenty four to twenty five million dollar range. Well,
(30:27):
you know, now that Nick Bosa has done his CEO,
is probably a lot more difficult for the Chiefs to
make the argument that Aaron Donald's number is just some
outlier that shouldn't be discussed.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
Albert, I'm curious only because we were just talking about
this a moment ago, Like what's holding Kansas City back?
I mean, Chris Jones was the best defensive tackle last
year and Aaron Donald wasn't there. He's He's arguably a
top three player on that roster. They've had a quarterback
they could restructure that. You could make the case you
probably want to restructure with Patrick Mahomes anyway, he's largely
(31:00):
being underpaid for service. Has come off an MVP season, Like,
what's the hold up on the chief side.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Of this, Yeah, well, I don't even know if it's
arguable that he's a top three player on that roster, right, Like,
I mean, the Chiefs has sort of let us know
who their three most important players are. They are the
three guys that have been there, you know, for this
run of five straight AFC title games and two Super
Bowl wins. So you know, I certainly think Chris Jones
is you know, a top three player in that roster
(31:26):
and probably the second best player of his era, you know,
at this position behind Aaron Donald. What's holding the back?
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Right?
Speaker 7 (31:34):
I would say, it's just you know, a whole lot
of contractual precedent, you know, And I think, what what
But most negotiators in these situations would tell you is
if you may if you start making exceptions for one player,
well then you're gonna have a line of other players
waiting and asking for you to make exceptions for them.
And you know, you can argue whether that's right or not,
but that's just the way that negotiators, the chief negotiators
(31:56):
for a lot of these teams work. And you know,
being willing to pay somebody the top of the market
is one thing. Being willing to go far above the
market or treat somebody as an outliers and other things.
And again like I do think that there's a middle
ground here and the good news is like a lot
of background I think has been covered, Like I, you know,
(32:17):
I the Chiefs have shown a willingness to go up
and and and above what what what Shimmons got? And
what and and and what Clint Williams got, And the
Donald camp has been willing to concede, like hey, we'll
take a little latch than than Donald got, you know.
So I think like there's there's definitely been some work
done here. I just think the question now becomes, you know,
(32:40):
how does the Bosa negotiation affect this? And there's the
there's the there's the Bosa contract mate Jones Siggers heels
it now if you can look at it and say again,
like I've made the impact on the Chiefs that Nick
bos has made on the Niners. So I have no
reason to move anymore, especially when I've given up more
than two million dollars and fines and walked away from
(33:01):
a half million dollar workout bonus.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
What should the expectation of tonight's game be from your
your estimation?
Speaker 7 (33:10):
You know, it's a bigger game for the Lions than
it is for Chiefs. I'd say, you know, Chiefs are
sort of in that position, and you know, I did
they happen in that position where they can I'm not
saying they can screw around for the first month of
the season, but look, I've sort of thought about this
with the Kelsey thing. You know, it's like the Chiefs
are two and two. Do we thought, do we think
they're at the end of September? Do we think they're
(33:32):
not gonna win the h us? You know what I mean? Like,
I think they'd probably still find a way to pull
it out, you know.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
And so.
Speaker 7 (33:39):
You know, it's where you know, the Packers work for
a lot of years and they had Aaron Rodgers, or
the Patriots were with Tom Brady. When you know you
have that player in that quarterback, you sort of have
a little bit of time to work things out early
in the year, almost like an extended training camp. For
the Lions, obviously, there is a chance to make a statement.
There's a chance to building the momentum of last year
(34:00):
and a chance to show that all the hype and
everything else has been around them, the expectations that have
been around them are justified. And so that's what's going
to be interesting to me, is you know, like, how
does the Lions look coming out of this, because you know,
being in the position of the Hunters a lot different
than being you know, in the position of hunter. And
(34:21):
I'm not saying maybe the hundred when it comes to
the Chiefs, but you know, there's been a lot of
things out there on the Lion's arrival. So you know,
how does how does Jared Goff look? How does that
run game look? Does the offensive line play as well
as it did last year? The defense, you know, which
was historically bad through the first half of last year
but really turned it around down the stretch. Do they
they pick up where they left off? I just think
(34:43):
at this point, like if the Chiefs don't look great,
then you know, you know whatever, they'll pick it up.
They'll figure it out. I think this is actually a
pretty big game for the Lions coming into the season
to show as they're.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
At Get them on Twitter at Albert Briers, senior NFL
reporter at the MMQB joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
Before we let you go, we do want to get
your Super Bowl pick, Albert, But I wanted to ask you,
is there a team that you've heard a lot of
people talk, you know, positive about, expectations are high, feel
good about them going into the year that you look
(35:14):
at them and you go either you saw them up
close and personal in your training camp tour, but you're
just not a believer in this team being a playoff
team that some people are.
Speaker 7 (35:24):
You know, I the one team I'm a little you know,
I'd say I'm a little concerned about. I think it's
going to be important that they get off to the
right kind of start, and I did put them in
the playoffs would be Dallas.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
I think there's.
Speaker 7 (35:39):
There's a lot of pressure on people in that organization
right now. You know Kellen Moore. I think Kellen Moore
is a really good offensive coordinator. So what does it
look like now with Mike McCarthy wearing both hats? There
are I mean, it's down to like, there are coaches
in that organization who are in a contract year this
year that didn't get extended with I look at it
(36:02):
and there's a lot of pressure on a lot of
people in that organization, the quarterback included. And I just know,
like having covered that team, you know when I was
on the beat down there, oh seven eight. I've got
a pretty good idea of the way things work down
there is that things can kind of build on themselves there,
you know, and and and the pressure can kind of
(36:22):
take on a life of its own. So I just
think it's going to be important for the Cowboys to
get out of the gate strong. And again I picked
them to have to make the playoffs. They've got the
talent to get there. Michael Parsons should be a defensive
Player of the Year candidate. I think she Lamb's going
to have a huge year. But you know, you look
at and I just they're the one where I look
at and say, there's there's a lot of pressure on
(36:43):
a lot of people in that organization, and you sort
of wonder if it could take as toll if they
get off to shakey start.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Did the show earlier, Yeah, thing, I mean we we
mirror the same time sentiments on this, Okay, Yeah, I
just sort of know that you put I did not
put it the same way.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
I Mean.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
The other thing about them guys is I just I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Well them boys actually Albert dumb boys.
Speaker 7 (37:18):
Yeah, they they've got it good. They've got good frontline talent, right,
like if you look at like the high end talent,
they got it there.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Okay, Albert, do you believe in Dak?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Do you believe that question?
Speaker 7 (37:30):
I mean, I think like if we look at Jack,
if we look at if we look at Dak Brady, like,
when things have been right around him, he's been good.
But they don't have the dominant run game anymore. There's
going to be more in him to you know, win
games for that offense.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Do you believe in him? Do you believe in Dak's
ability to take them to take this team to the supers?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Doesn't I believe?
Speaker 7 (37:51):
I believe Dak can be a Deck Decks, the type
of player who I hate to compare him to Kirk Cousins,
but I think that there's like a little bit of this.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Gets some valid comparison.
Speaker 7 (38:02):
No, but I just think it's like one of those
guys like Kirk is great, like when everything's right around him,
you know what I mean. Like, I just think Dak
is sort of that type of guy where when like
I love him as a guy and a competitor and
all that, and I think that shows up when everything's
right around him. I just don't think he can carry
a team when I'm not saying to carry a team
when there's more on him.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
You just said no. But that's cool. I mean, how
would you a be like you just said no?
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Though? All I'm trying to be.
Speaker 7 (38:29):
I'm trying to I'm trying to give you as a
ployal clicker.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Right, Hey, ab, let's end on a high note. How
about the Buckeyes, Pat, how about the buck.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
Hey? Defense looks awesome. Man, it was one hundred and
fifty yards of offense. Uh three points allowed in a
uh in a Big ten game on the road. I
mean that wasn't bad. Quarterbacks got a level up a
little bit, I'll get.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I mean, what do you think about your offensive line play?
Speaker 7 (38:54):
I know, I know, I know. That's the thing though.
That's the thing though, It is like that those tackles.
We got to we got to clean that up. By uh.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
I mean all I heard, all I kept hearing was like, oh, like,
there's no one, no reason, no house they should be
worried about anyone on their schedule. Now I feel like
you should be worried about everyone on your schedule after
watching that.
Speaker 7 (39:13):
Oh wow, that's a strong take, Brady.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Really yeah, I mean, look, I'll put it this way.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
You guys only got a Mechamuka and Melvin Harrison five
receptions apiece, and I mean two of the best receivers,
top prospects.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I mean, come on.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
And the other thing is is you got to wonder,
especially as the season wears on, if those guys want
to put themselves at risk. You know, the way things
were kind of looking early in that game, it didn't
look like they were too happy about the situation their quarterback.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
You like, is that what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
No, I'm not saying that.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
I'm saying like there was a couple of times when
the balls were high and they got like undercut and
and you're kind of watching their body language. You get up,
you're thinking like, yeah, dude, I get it, Like why
do you want to be out of.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Here for this?
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (40:00):
Like you mean like there's some I would say, like
like protecting the investment going on out there?
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Well, yeah, you can make the case that happened a
little bit last year.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (40:11):
Yeah, Well I'm interested to see what happens when they
can open it up a little bit more. I I like,
it didn't seem like they were doing a ton to
free up Marv and a Mecca, you know, and it
just makes me wonder how much they're holding back and
how much movie they didn't want to show certain things.
But you know again, like I like, I think, you know,
(40:32):
to be able to like and I don't want to
overreact and I don't want to be I mean, god,
I don't want to get in the crosstairs of kirk
Kirk Street because he's uh, he's a mayor of buck
Eye Nation. He's he's been he's he's been taking shots
to people in the fan base. I want to I
want to see what happens when they're able to open
it up a little bit more and and the quarterback's
(40:53):
able to you know, use the field a little bit more.
They're doing more to free up the receivers by moving
them around. It didn't seem like they did a ton
to for those guys up last week, which I wonder
if that's by design.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Albert, we got about twenty seconds. You got a Super
Bowl pick. Who's coming out of the AFC, who's coming
out of the NFC.
Speaker 7 (41:11):
I got the Bengals over the Niners. So throwback to
nineteen eighty eight with the result being flipped in Joe
Burrow being the Super Bowl MVP. So there you go.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Hey, who's the quarterback for the Niners?
Speaker 7 (41:25):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (41:25):
Who's the quarterback? Who's quarterbacking them? Who's starting in the
Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (41:29):
Rock Purty don't sleep on BCB.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Okay, there you go. All right.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter at the MMQB. Get him
on Twitter at at Albert Brier. We appreciate it. We'll
do it again next week, all right, Thanks guys,
