Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Lamar Airings and Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox
on box or Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Oh, what is going on? Happy Friday? To a Happy
Black Friday to you? As a matter of fact, here
as we get you all set for a pretty big
Friday of college football. Little NFL action mixed in as well.
Dogs were barking yesterday. Man, we'll get to that here
in just a minute. At the home Depot, Makita tools
are built for the pros who show up early with

(00:35):
tools built to last job after job, year after year.
When the job calls for the best call on Makita
available at the home Depot, how pros get more done.
Good morning, Jason Martin, Howard Things. How was the Thanksgiving?
Everything good?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Everything's good. Everything's good. Food was good, football was interesting,
definitely say that lot to jump into and of course
a lot to get to in the weekend, but solid
Thanksgiving all around for the Martin household. That's good, very good.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I spent a portion of my Thanksgiving with the neighborhood
cat Oreo. Have I given you any of the details
about how awesome Oreo.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Is Jane now? But I'm gonna assume it's a black cat.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
That's right, Okay, it's a neighborhood black cat. Oreo has
a home. Oreo has owners, but will routinely visit places
all around, like the apartment complex, including my place. So
Oreo was hanging out last night, you know, came by
for a late Thanksgiving dinner and then just hung out
and you know, we woke up early and we're doing

(01:42):
the show now, right, so we're not ready to get
into it here.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
But that was awesome. That was a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
But man, I thought you your description was great, Like
yesterday was interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Yeah, there was a.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
All three underdogs won. The Backers were a road underdog.
They beat the Lions. Cowboys were a home underdog. They
beat the Chiefs, and the Bengals another road dog. They
were eight point underdogs. Joe Burrow comes back and they
smack around the Ravens thirty two to fourteen. Which are
the three games with those results going the way they

(02:16):
did stood out to you most as far as the
playoff picture significance going forward, was it the Chiefs going
down for you?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah? I would say so. I think Detroit and Green
Bay are both still in pretty good position, and then
obviously weren't you were only watching one playoff team. Potentially
in the late game, I might be more shocked by
what I saw in that game, or at least a
little bit more shocked. But I think that coming out
of Kansas City and Dallas, like it was very close

(02:47):
to Kansas City having a losing record right now. They
had to make that comeback to beat the Colts on
Sunday and then yesterday against Dallas. Like, the more I
watched the Chiefs, and again, this is why I haven't
tried to make he's sweeping, just feelings about what I
think they are because from week to week it just
you just don't know exactly. But the more I watch them,

(03:08):
the more I'm just like, man, if you can't beat
them this year, like what hope is there for anybody
in the AFC? Because this team is so flawed. Now
they didn't have Tray Smith yesterday. That's a big deal obviously,
But at the same time, like the Cowboys really kind
of pushed the envelope all day yesterday. They were the aggressors.
I thought Dak Prescott again was just excellent and has

(03:32):
been all year long. Pickens and Lamb both making big
time plays, Pickens making some kind of alien, just insane
play where he almost hurtled a guy after getting through
like three or four tackles near the right sideline, and
he might have scored on that play. But then they
do go ahead and score. But the defense for Kansas City,
it doesn't matter what Spacnela's calling. It just they're not

(03:54):
that great at least not against the top flight offense.
And the more I watched the offense, it's just you
have these guys you have or Shee Rice and you
obviously you have the quarterback and you have some of
this stuff, but it just doesn't look the same. It
looks like I'm trying to think of what I could
really could compare it to. It's like the Patriots the

(04:14):
year you knew they weren't gonna win it all, or
a team like that where they're still a good team,
but by no means are you gonna call them great
like And there's nothing about what the Chiefs are bringing
on a week to week basis that is particularly impressive.
And so I just look at it them just like
man AFC. You've got to take advantage of this, like

(04:36):
if you cannot get to the super Bowl instead of
this team. And this team's gonna have some work to
make the super Bowl. I mean, Mahomes said it himself
after the game, he said, we got to win them
all from now on out. Yeah, I mean that's pretty
much true, because they're not gonna win the division. And
there's just there's something just they look old. They just
look like a team we've seen. We've been here and

(04:56):
done this before. But maybe we're not going to the
theater on the first weekend anymore. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
It's one of these deals where I'm watching the Chiefs
yesterday shoot themselves in the foot again and again, and
I'm watching them and I'm like, are they just mentally spent?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Where I was flipping channels the other day and there's
a I think it's a thirty for thirty on the Bills.
You know, we lost four straight super Bowls and the
last super Bowl that they lost, they were they might
have had a lead at halftime against the Cowboys. It
was a close game. They were either like slightly ahead
or slightly behind. I can't remember, but like they interviewed

(05:36):
former Bills player after former Bills player, Steve Tasker was
on that team, and he was like, at halftime, I
could tell we just had nothing left. We were in
the Super Bowl for four straight years, and even though
that was a close game, we just had nothing left
to give. And I'm wondering if that sort of applies
to the Chiefs also, and some of it might. They've

(05:58):
been to the AFC title Game nine straight years, and
they look like a team that's sort ofly mentally just
not focused to the degree they need to be. But
then I'll always try to like check my work, you know,
like your math teacher always to check your work, right,
So if I come up with the theory, I try
to test it out to see if it really makes sense,

(06:19):
and halfway it does. In halfway it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Take.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
For instance, Rashie Rice had a huge drop yesterday, So
the Chiefs are down by seven points. They've got the
ball near midfield. It's third and eight, like we're in
the fourth quarter, we're under ten minutes to play, and
he just drops a ball right over the middle, like
easy first down, easy catch. Just dropped it. Now that's

(06:43):
a guy who isn't like a ten year veteran, you know,
it's not like it's been so mentally taxing. He only
played four games last season because of injury. He was
suspended for the first six games this season. This is
his third year. Rushie Rice is not a guy that's
just like man, all these AFC title game appearances, it's
so mentally taxing. He's not a guy like that. That's

(07:06):
a guy just dropping a ball in a key moment
and the Chiefs finding a way to hurt themselves. So
it's somewhat makes sense where they seem like a team
that's just I don't know, they've they've been redlining for
so long. You're seeing the effects of that, But I
don't think it applies to the entire team. Sometimes you're
just making big mistakes and key moments.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah, Like it's just it's not crisp, it's not Yeah,
the little things, the details that the Chiefs never used
to beat themselves doing, they're doing. And I mean, eventually
this is going to happen. Eventually, it's not gonna be
your year. Eventually somebody else is going to get an opportunity.
But they're just not that good. Yeah. And the other

(07:48):
thing is they're not that fun to watch either. And
I think this may be started last year, but even
though they do have some dynamic players, Rice probably being
near the top of that list, Like, I just don't
have fun watching them. Yeah, it just I'd rather watch
a lot of other teams in this league than watch
Kansas City right now. And that even goes from Mahomes.

(08:10):
I know he does some some special stuff from week
to week, but there's just like a very yep. I
have seen this a lot. Like you always talk about
how eventually somebody gets a look at some tape and
year two is not as good as year one. Well,
there's a lot of tape on Patrick Mahomes, there's a
lot of tape on this Kansas City offense. There's a
lot of tape overall on the Chiefs, and so it's

(08:32):
just kind of like, man, I've seen my share of tape.
I want to see something else. I was more entertained
by far by the first game yesterday than the second,
but I was actually just watching Dallas, Like man, I
did that segment yesterday where what have we been wrong about? Well,
one is I think Brian Schottenheim has done a pretty
good job. I mean really he has, because we all

(08:54):
sort of laughed off that higher but not only have
they not fallen apart. They've kind of gotized and you
know the moves that they made at the deadline there
to get a couple of guys on defense. I do
think that that helps him out. And ebra Flus has
had a pretty good season as well. But this offense, man,
this Dallas offense is just a blast to watch. Dak

(09:17):
Prescott is just he's playing some of the best football
of his career. And you could see it because he's smiling,
laughing and just having a good time. He's living his
best life right now. No, he is.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
He's played really really solid football, and they still strike
me as a team that I think he's the Burrow
of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah, I think this is very possible.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, where Burrow was sensational last season and they just
had an average record because the defense was so bad.
Now the Cowboys lately, their defense looks way way better.
They were getting just absolutely gashed and giving up big
play after big play earlier in the season, but they
haven't done that as of late. So they've been better,
They've gotten healthier. A couple of trades have helped out.

(09:59):
Getting winning Williams is a big deal. But the thing
with the Chiefs. You know what's funny is have you
ever had a vehicle with transmission problems? Of course, yeah,
I think we all have at some point. Yeah, I've
definitely had a couple of vehicles over the years. And
that's what the Chief's offense is like to me. Right,
if you're driving your car and whatever, you're in fourth

(10:21):
gear and you're trying to get up to fifth gear
and it just doesn't want to kick into fifth gear.
That's how the Chiefs offense is running this year. They're
like a car with transmission problems. And the thing that
is wild to me is they are a six and
six football team with the completely healthy Patrick Mahomes. You
know what I mean, Like, if you're just explaining how

(10:42):
the Chiefs got to this point to someone who hasn't
been watching each and every game, if they're like, so, as, like,
what's the deal? They're six and so what's going on
with them? The way I would describe it, I'd be like, Ah,
they're just I don't know, they're kind of sloppy. They've
made big mistakes at times, and and it's like is
that it? It's like, yeah, that's kind of it. Mahomes

(11:03):
has been healthy all year. It would make more sense
if Mahomes got hurt in like Week two and they've
had their backup this whole time or something, or they've
had a number of significant injuries, and you could say, man,
that the injury bugs really hurt them. Man, that's why
they're six and six. You really can't say any of
those things. It's just they're not making those plays when
they need to, or they're just doing a handful of

(11:25):
just stupid things, like just silly mistakes, and their opponents
take advantage of it. It used to be the other
way around, man, The Chiefs never killed themselves like that,
and they always pounced on those opportunities. I don't know, man,
they just don't have it this year. They do not
have their fastball.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
No, they don't, and we're getting to the point where
there's not going to be enough time for them to
turn it around. Yeah, their schedule, They've still got a
couple of pretty tough games on the horizon. They got
one more against Denver, for example, and they really have
almost no margin for error at this point. It's very
weird to see the graphic of playoffs for whatever game

(12:05):
you're watching and see in the hunt and then see
the Chiefs logo. Yeah, that's where we are right now.
And not just the Chief's logo. You're also seeing that
about the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
And they need like big help. They're losing a tiebreaker
to a number of teams just to get into the playoffs.
Like they are in major trouble here. So I don't
know that they're even sneaking into this thing here. If
you look at their remaining schedule, it's like I could
see that being a loss. That could be another loss,
Like next week they host the Texans on Sunday Night,

(12:38):
then they get the Chargers, and they get the Broncos
on Christmas Day. Yeah, those are not easy games. The
easier games are at the Titans at the Raiders. But man,
could you see one or two more losses with the Texans, Chargers,
and Broncos. I could if you see one or two
more losses, Man, it's curtains. It's not gonna work out.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Yeah, I mean, I will say this, I think we
can survive this season without Kansas City making the playoffs.
I think as a football watching public will still be okay. Yeah,
I still think there's gonna be some good games, some
good things that happen. Even if Kansas City doesn't make it,
maybe it would be a refreshing change of pace. As
a matter of fact, because I kind of don't want
to see this version of the Chiefs get in. It's

(13:21):
gonna be tempting to still want to pick them if
they do get in, because well, why would you not
based on everything we've seen in the past. The only
thing I will say in their favor is like, if
they do get in, I'm not looking at this AFC
and seeing a bunch of Juggernauts here. Bro I know. Yeah,
it's such a weird year, man.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, if they somehow sneak in, they'll be executing at
a much higher level.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
They have to to be able to.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Win these games, and you're gonna be like, eh, it's
kind of hard to take the Patriots even though they
have home field or the Rocos. You know, but we'll
cross that bridge if we get to it. I just
know that we're gonna get there.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Man.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
I don't if I had to bet one way or
the other today, I would bet on the Chiefs not
making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
So what I mean, I think they're under fifty percent chance. Now.
I think it's like a forty seven somewhere in that
percent chance, And like a lot of teams you see
that and you're like, yeah, they're probably not gonna make it.
But with the Chiefs, it'say, yeah, but it's Mahomes, it's
Andy Reid. Yeah. But eventually, like you've played enough games
to where it doesn't matter who it is. It's just
not your year. Yeah, I know it.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
It's like like when they're winning all fifteen of their
one score games last season and now they're what one
in six I want to say, in one score games. Yeah,
Like the play yesterday's George Pickens trying to spin around
and make a play, gain a first down, any fumbles
and there are like four Chiefs just like circling the

(14:50):
football and out of nowhere here comes Turpin and it
dives on the fumble. And it's like that wouldn't have
happened last year. I don't know how it wouldn't have
happened last year. It's gonna happen this year. That's just
the way it goes sometimes in football.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, I mean, it's just watching that game you just saw,
it's like, yeah, okay, this year and this is not
something I think almost anyone would have said entering the
season this year, the Dallas Cowboys are a better team
than the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah, at this stage, absolutely they are.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
And we've mocked their defense for a large part of
this season. Most of us have not the offense, but
the defense. But in this case, it was just like
watching that yesterday, one of those teams just looked like
the better football team to me, and it was Dallas.
Yes they had it at home, and yes it was
a close game. We're not pouring complete dirt on the Chiefs.
They're not getting blown out in a lot of these games.

(15:44):
But at the same time, it's just you go back
and you even look at their losses and some of
these losses are just like, yeah, I mean you found
a way to lose. Yeah, And that's not a thing
you ever say about the Chiefs. You always say, well,
they pulled it out. They found a way, even if
they do it with me or sorcery for Mahomes or
whatever like that. None of that stuff is working this year,

(16:04):
Like somehow they don't have the ball at the end,
or even if they do, they're not able to get
the job done. It's wild, man.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
I think we're in an alternate universe this year, some
that would make more sense than the Chiefs six and
six with a healthy Mahomes. That's that's insanity right there.
But here we are, here, we are all right. He's
Jason Martin, I'm Brian though. We're in for two Pros

joined a wonderful thanks with their family and of course
some business to take care of this weekend. And so
he's Brian know, I'm Jason Martin. We're in having a
blast with you this morning, all right. So Jack White

(18:10):
and eminem in Detroit and then Post Malone in Dallas.
I think it probably comes down to generationally, for like
post Mallan was performing while I was eating Thanksgiving dinner,
so it wasn't loud. So I don't know exactly what
to say there. I'm a huge Jack White fan, my
wife and I both are. We've seen him multiple times

(18:30):
together and just a huge fan. Plus you know, Nashville
and Third Man Records are right here in our town.
And so I thought that performance was phenomenal, Like it
was so tight because you had this shorter, normal halftime
and then for Eminem to just pop up there in
the middle do some killer stuff and then them just

(18:50):
finish it off with Seven Nation Army. I thought that
was a really really solid halftime performance. I did too.
I enjoyed it. I liked it.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I love how he for seven Nation Army grabbed the
weird guitar like like, I don't know what was going
on with that.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
It's like this old school almost like gretch guitar. It was.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yeah, it was kind of like a hybrid, like it
looks like an acoustic but clearly was not. But yeah, man,
like Jack White, he rocks out, man, that dude, and
you could feel it right, and he just fit. He
fit with that city, you know, that performance fit with
that that whole vibe, and it was cool to see
Eminem do his thing for a little bit a post Malone.

(19:30):
I like a lot of post Malone stuff. It was weird.
It was almost like a karaoke version. What's the kind
of like the the country slash pop hit that he has?
They closed with that, but he was like, I can't
remember off the top of my head.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
And my mother in law asked us, like, did he
start out as a country artist? I said, no, No,
he's kind of mixed in some genres here and there,
Like he's shown some you know, he's he's kind of
got a wide range in terms of what he likes
and what he's inspired. Bye, but a lot of what
I thought he was doing, at least from what I heard,
Brian was not the Malone that I'm more used to. Yeah, No,

(20:09):
he was good. He was all right.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
It was definitely more of a country flavor.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
And I was like, did he drop it? Drop an
F bomb? Like I I rewinded it a couple of times.
I'm like, I can't tell if he did not serve
he did, but uh, it was okay. I preferred Jack White.
I think that post Malone. He tried to like tailor
his show to the crowd. Al and that's not really

(20:36):
true to who he is. You know, he's he's got
the R and B like the rap flavor, and you
didn't get that at all in that performance. So it
was okay to me, But uh, I don't think as
good in my book as Jack White.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
I thought Jack White Show was really good. Yeah I did.
I did too. And then I didn't even know Little
John was a thing that happened in the PM. He
could have slid in, He could slid in the Collinsworth
role because he just kind of came in so fast
and then he was out apparently like maybe he didn't
even need to be on the field. He could have
just been in the booth with to Riko. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
It was almost like you know a pregame where they're
doing their pregame stuff and they're like, oh, hey, check
it out. Here's a little taste of whoever is performing. Yeah,
like for all the fans outside in the parking lot
and get like a little taste of that. That's what
they did for Little John. They did Little John dirty Man.
It was not like and now here is the halftime

(21:31):
show presented by Verizon litl John. It was not like
that at all. Tarico was like, Oh, let's give you
like twenty solid seconds of Little John and move it along.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
It was completely different. So this afternoon we got two
eight and three teams. We got the Eagles and the Bears.
I'm gonna give you I know you said this yesterday.
I'm gonna give you the soapbox here. Okay, those that
are Chicago fans out there, plug your ears. Brian No
does not believe in your football team.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Oh man, they're so fugazy it's not even funny, man, It's.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Like they're weird. Right.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
The Bears are a team that I think are complete
and utter frauds. They haven't beaten anybody. They've beaten the Steelers.
That's the end of their resume, you know, like that,
that's not anything to write home about. It's a home
win against the Steelers. And you could look at this
and be like, hey man, but they're only allowed to
play the teams who are in front of them. Okay,

(22:26):
that only goes so far. They got blown out by
the Lions. Now that's back in Week two. They lost
fifty two to twenty one. J Martin like, that's what
are we doing here? They lost by two touchdowns to
the Ravens. You know, so the good teams that they've played,
they have not fared well at all. The only good
win they have and it's kind of like you know
in quotes is against the Steelers with Mason Ruth backup quarterback. Yeah, Cowboys,

(22:53):
you could say that's a solid win at home, but
the Cowboys were not then what they are now.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
That was Week three.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
The Cowboys defense was a wreck, remember that, true, the
bomb I think it was the Luther burden that Matta
had a flea flicker in there. It's like just giving
up big plays left and right. So even that has
an asterisk in my mind, Like, you're barely surviving against
the Raiders, barely surviving against the Commanders. They had a

(23:20):
miracle win against the Bengals. You've had five double digit
comebacks in the fourth quarter against mostly bum teams. Like
you're just not built to last with the formula like that.
It's great that they're eight and three, Hey, great, I
just don't think they're built to last going forward.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Well, I mean they're already I mean just what they've
already accomplished, They've all they've shown steps in the right direction.
Those are games they're not winning last year. Yeah, you
beat the Raiders twenty five to twenty four. You beat
the Commanders i think without Jayden Daniels twenty five to
twenty four. You win a Giants game twenty four to twenty.
You beat the Vikings by two, you beat the Steelers
by three. You're winning close games. That's not something that

(24:00):
that is going to work long term. It never does.
Year to year. The teams that you can easily fade
or the teams that you can say, yeah, probably not
gonna have as good a year this year's last year
are the ones that they're winning those close games. It's
just not something that happens on a consistent basis. The
question is going to happen for the next you know,
eight nine weeks for them to put themselves in a spot.

(24:20):
They've got a tough sled. It starts today at Philly,
and then it's at Green Bay, and then they go
to Cleveland, and that's gonna be interesting just because of
the defense and what Miles Garrett's doing and by then
what is happening at the quarterback spot for Cleveland and
is that more difficult? But they've still got both games
against the Packers left. They've got another game against the Lions.

(24:41):
They've got the Niners at near the end of the
season on the road as well, So I mean almost
nothing they have left outside of the Browns looks particularly inviting.
So what is their record at the end of the season.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Be wow, I would say whether they eight and three
right now?

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Eight and three right now? Have them losing today?

Speaker 2 (25:01):
I do have them losing to Okay. I probably have
them losing next week against the Packers. Also, they might
get swept by the Packers potentially, and at the Niners
finish up with the Lions. I see at least three
losses from here on out. So I'll put him at
eleven and six.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
I mean, that's a pretty good end up. Eleven and six. Yeah,
that's a pretty good year for Caleb Williams, and that's
a definite good year for Ben Johnson. No doubt.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
You would take that all day. If you're a Bears
fan before the season started and said hey, you're gonna
go eleven and six this year, every Bears fan'd be like, great,
sign me up. I'll take that, no doubt. And that's
the thing is, Caleb Williams has played pretty well. He's
put up numbers that are respectable. He's only twentieth in
passer rating, but sixteen touchdowns four picks. Got to get

(25:47):
the completion percentage going. That's what's really hurting him. Under
sixty percent. That shouldn't be a thing in today's NFL,
but he's taken steps in the right direction. Under Ben Johnson.
The defense is not good, but they are fantastic at
forcing turnovers. They have twenty four takeaways this season. That's
number one in the league. That's what's interesting about today's

(26:10):
matchup because the Eagles are number one in giveaways. They've
only given the ball away six times this season. They
don't turn it over. So the Bears live off of takeaways,
and the Eagles don't have many giveaways. So if the
Eagles are able to protect the football, they're not fumbling it.
Jalen Hurts has only thrown one interception. He's so careful, right.

(26:33):
This offense is just so careful. But in a matchup
like this against the Bears defense, which is not good,
they're giving up yards left and right. If you're able
to protect the football, I think that the Bears defense
is going to be in trouble here. So I'm really
excited to see how that plays.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Out three years from today. Who is the best quarterback
in the NFC North.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Three years from today?

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, because I mean there's questions about all these guys, right, Like,
God's getting a little bit older, and I know you're
not a huge fan of his. Jordan Love, very inconsistent.
Caleb Williams, We're still work in progress. And then what's
happening in Minnesota is not looking good at all, not
looking good whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
If I had to put my money somewhere, I would
bet on the ceiling of Caleb Williams, and I would
just hope and I would pray to the football gods
that this guy is just more consistent with getting rid
of the football on time. J Mart Like, I have
no problem with going off script from time to time,

(27:37):
extending to play from time to time. It makes sense
at times. But he does it all the time. He
will not get rid of the football on time, and
it's not going to work in the NFL as much
as he does it. He's got to do a much
better job of one two three throw, you know, one second,

(27:59):
two seconds seconds, Like the ball should have been gone
by now. And he's just like, yeah, let me buy
like four more seconds like, no, man, No, you can't
do that as much as he does. He's got to
get that fixed, man, And I'm gonna bet that he
can to a degree where he will be the best
quarterback in the NFC North three years from now.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
My bet would be on Caleb. Would you go, Jordan Love?
Or where would you go? There? I probably would be
with you, Jordan Love. I need to see something consistent
from him, yeah, And I just kind of I don't know.
I think his consistency is just gonna be sort of average.
I think at times he's gonna have really nice games
and at times he's gonna have the opposite. I think

(28:40):
that you're right the ceiling. If they're able to kind
of harness it is going to be higher for Caleb.
Caleb's got Russell Wilson syndrome where he's always trying to
make a big time play down the field instead of
taking what the defense is giving him. And they do
need to let him know that a five yard gain
is going to move you down the field pretty effectively
as well, and take in bad sacks and potentially putting

(29:01):
yourself in a spot where you're going to throw throw
into double coverage or fumble the football or whatever. Let
none of that is going to be particularly helpful to you.
But I will say this just just since we're on
the topic of the NFC North, like I'm seeing increasing
numbers of articles about Minnesota moving on from JJ McCarthy
after this season. I'm blown away at how poorly that

(29:25):
has gone. Like I'm not like coming out of Michigan,
I wasn't sure at all. I definitely was on the
downside because he wasn't asked to do a whole lot,
although when he was asked to do it, he would
make two big throws a game for them, and then
you know, defense and Blake Corum would carry him the
rest of the way. But I'm seeing the JJ McCarthy

(29:46):
that I wasn't sure what the hype was about in college.
And I don't want to say that because he's young
and you would think there's still a lot of football left.
But with the talent that they've got in Minnesota, how
long can they afford to kind of sit there and
wait to see if he comes around. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Man, it's a tough thing where you would want to
probably do a colts thing, you know, like you bring
in competition, you bring in a guy like Daniel Jones,
who has a lot of starting experience, hasn't worked out
very well to this point, like heading into this season,
and he could at least be a guy that challenges
Anthony Richardson, maybe he wins the job. Maybe with Shane Steiken,

(30:25):
he's able to revive his career and that has to
a large degree, Ben, what's happened. So maybe you could
do something like that with the Vikings, because you don't
want to be in twenty twenty six and still like,
hey man, we're still riding this JJ McCarthy train right here,
and it looks next season like it does this season,
right Like, you really don't want to be in a

(30:46):
spot like that. So that's probably what they would do.
I don't think that they like move on completely and
try to get a new guy, but they might try
to get a Daniel Jones ish like quarterback to push
JJ McCarthy and if they need to have at least
a legitimate option to go to if the guy is

(31:08):
just thinking out loud again, because he's been brutal. He
hasn't been just bad, he's been like, whoa, what is
happening here?

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Kind of bad. Yeah, it's kind of incredible considering O'Connell
and how smart a coach he is and how good
a coach he is. That that's what worries me, is
like they're not getting anything out of McCarthy, and I
don't think that it's the coach's fall. Like I'm not sure.
I'm not sure what we're looking at there. But the

(31:38):
worst thing that you can possibly do in this case
is be paying big top money to wide receivers but
not have a quarterback that can get them the football consistently.
Man Like, that is just that's got to be just
dreadful for Vikings fans out there. Every Olympic dream starts

I admitted earlier that I lost a job because of theft. Yeah,

(32:20):
I got another Maya Kopa after the break. Oh man,
I can't wait. There's something I've got to fully come
clean on involving something that's happening today in one of
the games it's being played. Okay, any upsets this weekend
in college football will discuss a little bit of that
as well. A reminder, Sesame Street helped raise all of us.
