What happened paper toweling? That one? We got paper toweling.
We need a cleanup.

Speaker 1 (01:49):

Speaker 3 (01:52):
It went over.

That's a problem. Sorry, we'll see you immediately.

Now it's clean.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
How's our things?

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Uh? Everything?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Everybody good? Everybody ready to go?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
We're all, we're all here amed two crows and a
cup of Joe Man.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
All right, so we've got wheeling and dealing in the
NFL already underway. One team in Olivar. You had mentioned
you believe that the end is near or then is over.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I did not say his run is over.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
I just said that it was mentioned, and it made
a lot of sense, and why not?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Wait what?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah? I was mentioned.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
I think SAI during the season, you thought it was
over for Matthew Stafford. No, no, no, no, Chiefs for the Chiefs. Yeah,
the run is over. Yeah, yeah, the run is over. Yeah,
you guys are right. Well Trent McDuffie, he got the
hell out of Dodge. I was looking at the Rams.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I'm sorry, I'll lugerious sneed. A couple of years ago,
Trent McDuffie gets traded from the Kansas City Chiefs. The
all pro cornerback goes to the Rams for a first
round pick this year, which is number twenty nine overall,
along with the fifth and sixth this year and a
third round pick next year. Mcduffey's he's also expected to
sign a long term deal with the Rams. As he

(03:39):
was entering I believe the final year of his rookie deal,
but nonetheless a key member of the Chiefs defense valuable
member gone. He'll help the Rams. And so there's two
conversations here. Obviously the benefit to the Rams because the
secondary was really an issue for him. Special teams was
an issue last year for him. But now the Kansas
City Chiefs bid farewell to another key member of the

(04:02):
organization there as they're trying to get their cap in
order to move forward with whatever these This next version
of Kansas City looks.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Like more believable today. Go ahead, Yes, I did say.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
The Chiefs that the window is most likely closing, could
be closed. Yes, I did say that. But goohead, you
guys got it.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Oh all right. I'm more like looking at the trade compensation.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
I mean, that's a lot of draft picks for Trent McDuffie,
which I'm not sure how you guys would go about
defining him.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I mean, he's a really good player, he's a.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Two time All Pro and he's obviously still very young,
so you know he'll sign the extension with the Rams.
The Rams have also if you look at from their perspective,
you know they did this once upon a time with JIMN.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Ramsey, right, they kind of brought him in.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
There's other players that they've seen who they feel like
are worth the draft capital, you know, f them picks,
I believe is what they say. For the Rams, this
isn't anything new for them. And when you when you're
drafting at such a late point in the first round,
you'd probably rather say, like, yeah, I'm willing to sacrifice

(05:09):
that twenty ninth overall pick in order to get a
veteran player who I know is going to be playing
at an all pro level.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I'm be able to help this football team. So if
for those out there.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
Who you know, didn't necessarily know or haven't watched Trent
McDuffie's game because he's not your typical you know, outside
like Drell Revis type or even Jalen Ramsey to reference
that he's not that style of player necessarily, he's kind
of versatle on what he can do. He can play outside,
he can play inside that that nickel slot, and I
think as teams play more three wide receiver sets, the

(05:40):
nickel slot becomes really important, you know, with the different
variety of things that they can do. So it looks
like a ton of compensation that the Chiefs get, which,
you know, to Levar's point, maybe they feel.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Like they're in rebuild mode.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
What's interesting is McDuffie gets a long term deal, and
I know the Chiefs are in somewhat of a cap situation.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
They don't have a ton of cap space. I believe
they have.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Twenty three million, depending on you know, where they're currently
at with this.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
They could have extended him too and lowered that number.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
So there's an element of, you know, kind of wondering, like,
what's going on in Kansas City where you've got a
guy who's homegrown, You've got a guy who is has
done everything you you know, hoped you would do.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Was this a point where he just wanted too much?

Speaker 5 (06:33):
Did they not feel as highly about Trent McDuffie as
either he wanted from a contract or maybe the Rams
as they kind of shopped him around, So what he'd
be worth where we're willing.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
To sacrifice or give up. It's just it's surprising.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I would have thought this would have been one of
the players that you keep on your roster and you
try to build around, not a guy that you're saying, well,
let's just go get all we can for him, and yeah,
you get a first round pick and a fifth and
a six and a third, which you know that the
third and twenty twenty seven is really looked at, you know,
like a fourth right because you get it today, but

(07:08):
you really the value of it obviously isn't for a
little while, So it's not really what it is on
paper because you don't get the immediacy of that pick
to help out your roster.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
So I just I don't know.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
I've got more like kind of questions as to why
with Kansas City, was this more of a financial thing
or is this more of just kind of a maybe
they feel like it's it's not a great fit and.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
We couldn't agree to a long term deal with them.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
I get it from the RAMS perspective, It just doesn't
make as much sense to me from the Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
I thought it was a big move out of RAMS.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Again, I'll continue to throw out there and confirmed well
I I took it from Pete is that it isn't
a great free agency class. You're there's not a name
that pops out that you say you're going to go
get in free agency and they're going to definitively make
your team a better team. So it's going to take

(08:02):
situations like these where you're facilitating behind the scenes and
getting deals done through trades. This improves the Rams. It
could be a dramatic improvement with with this edition with
with mcduffy. You know, one point that maybe wasn't mentioned
just now is what what's McDuffie's feelings outside of the

(08:26):
money aspect of it?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Is it is it?

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Is there a conversation that maybe took place where you're
you're maybe uncomfortable with moving forward with the Chiefs. Maybe
maybe it was a mutual a mutual departing or parting
of ways. Maybe it's a get out of Dodge moment
for McDuffie. He's not a bad dude like I've I've

(08:50):
heard really really glowing things about him. He's a local
kid and so it's not like he's you know, you
unloaded a problem and you can see the value about
what the Rams gave up to get him. So it
makes me wonder was McDuffie getting out of Dodge? Is
it is that I had an opportunity to get to

(09:12):
a team that could potentially make a run for the
Super Bowl next year.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
In the Rams, I saw he did an interview, or
he might have been speaking to a school or something
along those lines, and he said he was asked if
you could play anywhere other than Kansas City, where it
would it be, and he said, probably the Rams, so
that you know, my family could see me. Because, as
you mentioned, local kid, Bosco kid gets to come back home.
So the fact that they not only got the draft

(09:39):
capital in return, but that they sent him to a
place that he wanted to go leads me to believe
that the relationship probably was pretty solid between them, you know, Otherwise,
who knows they would have sent him somewhere else. The
draft capital obviously helped, but yeah, just it feels like
that's why I think the Chiefs are fascinating next year
because look, Patrick Mahom is coming off the injury. The

(10:03):
hope is he's going to be ready to go for
week one. They're clearly getting older. You're seeing foundational pieces
go elsewhere. That's why when the name, you know, the
people have brought up well Tyreek Hill a landing spot
for next It's like, man, if you're Kansas City, do
you want to go down that road. He's coming off
an injury as well too. Travis Kelsey's getting older, Chris
Jones is getting older. They're probably going to restructure his deal.

(10:24):
They've got other things that they're doing from a salary
cap standpoint, much like what they did with Mahomes a
couple of weeks ago when they when they restructured his
deal and then Andy Reid, who the hell knows how
long he's going to stick around for. So it does feel.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Like, what does it stick around? Is this a judgment year?

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Like and I'm not saying I'm not saying a fired
He's not going to get fired this year, but how
big of a year?

Speaker 3 (10:50):
How crucial is a year?

Speaker 2 (10:51):
This year?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
After having a six and eleven year and then having
Patrick Mahomes go down so late in the season, which
means that's going to totally impact what they are this season.
Maybe that injury, you know, keeps them off of, you know,
the conversations of what is you know, what's the future
for Andy Reid? But how important how critical is this

(11:16):
season if it's not framed up as we got to
get through obviously this season you went you got six
wins with him pretty much pretty much you got six
wins with him. I mean, what week did he go
out it was pretty late in the season. Was it
was like late late in the season. They didn't do
great with Patrick Mahomes. So but you get to use

(11:37):
the injury as as a reason this year. But what
what does this year? I would ask both of you,
what does this year hold and wait in terms of
if it doesn't go you know, obviously, if they win,
you know what that means, But if they don't have success,
if it's kind of like the same type of year
this year next year, what what are are your expectations

(12:01):
or what are the conversations surrounding the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
He was six and eight.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
This year, so he did go out later in the season,
But you know, I guess you could say there was
still a chance they could have made a run for something,
but I think they were out of it by the time.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Maybe he got hurt, like they were already out or
had been eliminated.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
They were eliminated, I do, but yet they were eliminated.
So three games three games without him.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, here's the only thing I'd say. It's like it
was a bad year.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
They were coming off a year that went fifteen and
one with Mahomes as a starter before that, So I
just I'm not ready to throw in the towel or
like wave the white flag for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Their front office has been plucked time and time again
with general managers who've moved on because they've done such
a good job of finding talent on their roster and

(12:55):
being able to supplement whatever they've lost. I mean there's
you know, players like Jalenson who's was not a highly talented,
you know prospect necessarily who's stepped up done a good job.
You know, Carl Loftus has had his kind of moments
to play on that defensive front. Chris Jones is getting
up there and he's got a huge cap hit, so
it's kind of surprising they haven't done something more with
his deal.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
But I just I look.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
At it and say, I'm just not ready to say,
like this team isn't going to be able to rebound
or recover. I mean the track record, all right, Like
Mahomes gets hurt and they have a step back year.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Maybe if he's held it the whole time, maybe they
do end up having a winning record.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
But they've had a winning record and they've been in
the conference championship game every single year he started with
the exception of last year. So I just I'm not
quite there yet. I just think this is a rebuilding
moment for them. They've got some older players and they've
got to make that transition. I think they're very capable

(13:55):
of doing so. My concern is more for the ownership.
Like the NFLP the report cards weren't necessarily as favorable
towards Clark.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Hunt and is he willing to spend the money.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
I mean, one of the biggest gripes they had in
those report cards with the fact that the facilities.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Have been the same thing, and he.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Hasn't upgraded stuff. He hasn't upgraded things they had, you know.
And it sounds like complaining from the player side of it,
But if you had won multiple Super Bowls and as
a player, you're like, yeah, they didn't do anything to
make the environment better around it or make us feel
like we've gotten a reward, and you might say, well, hey,
they're paying you more.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Okay, that's part of it.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
But how many companies do you know are super successful
and they stay in the same, you know, crappy office.
That doesn't happen very often. So I'm curious to see
if some of this may have to do too, with
a sense that you know, Clark Hunt's just not going
to spend the.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Way he needs to.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
And I mean, you know the rams are Stan Kronkey
isn't afraid to spend money, especially to help him whin
a super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
We'll get to a super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I mean, my tax guy is the saying office.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
They're doing pretty well. And it's that you think going on. Yeah,
probably one of the best businesses out here. Yeah, there's
probably not. It's tax guy in Callie.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
It's the same thing. He's probably had that for ten
twelve years, same old you know, rinky dink office building.
But you know, gets the job done. He's good to go.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
I just I look at Kansas City and I'm curious
to see because if it is a step back, they're
in an unfamiliar place, and it is a step back
based on the timeline, based on the age. What does
happen after this? And at least you get all the
draft capital that we mentioned for this trade, so that'll
probably help out and replenishing, you know, the roster and

(15:39):
getting everybody on track. But it's it's a really odd
feeling to be talking about the Kansas City Chiefs and
there'd be question marks about Hey, man, if it goes
bad again this year, then what because we haven't We
just haven't lived in that world for.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
A long hours time.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
People have to want to go to Kansas City, right
I think about it.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
It's just supposed to.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Me, Oh dog, don't say that Kansas City is a
great place. It's an awesome place.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
I'm going to repeat. I'm going to double down on it. People,
Your people are going to have to want to go.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
The Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
That's the bot and and for what is worth if
I'm choosing Sandy, Oh no.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Let's tell you've been to Kansas City not much?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
And that's the point, exactly exactly, that's the point.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
City is a great place. That's that's not a fair state.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
How many times have you been there? Outside of playing
for them? I've been back there, Like, yeah, how many.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
How many times? You asked me how many times you've
been back there?

Speaker 5 (16:38):
I've been back there obviously for work because of Kansas.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Where you flying to Kansas City, drive to Lawrence.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
All I'm saying is is in general, like I think
Boston is a super dope place.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Wait, Okayksboro, So.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
How many times I've been how many times have I
been to LA outside of work in the past five
or ten years?

Speaker 3 (16:55):
No?

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Zero? But what zero times are floating? What I do know?

Speaker 3 (17:00):
What I do know is I don't have to sell
you on l A. What I do. You don't have
to sell me.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
But I'm not going there, like like you can make
a case about that, but you don't disparage can't city?

Speaker 2 (17:11):
It's a good city.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Well it's my opinion. I'm gonna get my opinion.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
You wouldn't You wouldn't come to LA to hang out
with me?

Speaker 3 (17:18):
No, damn, I'm not leaving my fan.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
He tells me, don't don't talk about Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
But he telling you that's fine. Hey, all I would
saying is again I'm gonna go back.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
And say it's the same thing, Like you can sit
there and have your opinion about the city. I'm just saying, like,
how many times have how many times have I been
to any city right now this phace of my life?
It's not a fair question.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
You just asked me. You just asked me. I just
threw the question that you asked me, And.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
I'm saying that's not like the way you should look
at whether a city is good or not.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
How many times you've been there, but that's not how
it defined it.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
You asked me how many times I've been there.

Speaker 5 (17:53):
I didn't bring that because I think you've got an
opinion of a city that's a good city.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
You haven't been too much.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
That's but that's your opinion. I'm giving my opinion.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
We don't even have to We don't have to again,
we don't have to even go down that road.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Like you can have your opinion.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
You get well, Actually it's your sensitivities that's led to this,
this exchange two days in a.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Row, two days in a row.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Sensitive.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
I said, it will be a harder sell to go
play in Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
That is my opinion. I think about play.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
It's a hard sell to play Patrick, Well.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
But that's your opinion. That's it.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
I'm talking the team to go play in a in
a market like Kansas City will be a harder sale
for free agents to want to go to a place
like that over other markets to go play in.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
That's my opinion. That's an opinion. That's all.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Educating.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Well, whatever it is you want to go, when you
could go there, you I mean, I have no problem respect,
but you know this, Patrick does sound like a tile.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Right now, just what to say? Relax?

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Well, sometimes you don't comprehend what I say. Clearly, there
you go. Well, all right, clearly you're.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Super smart, the only one actually.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
All right, So let me ask you this is a
selling is a selling point?

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Look in the mirror?

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Is a is a selling point for the Chiefs? Not
Patrick Mahomes. That that to me would be like and
I get to play with Patrick Mahomes. That could sort
of cancel out. It could be you could probably say
the same thing with maybe six.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
And there's a lot of things you can sell.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
One I did say Andy Reid, didn't say Patrick Mahomes.
I said the market. I also and they are coming
off of a six to one season, But I also
says obvious information.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
All right, So can I make an NBA comp because
I also think about this.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
It's a great stadium.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Hey, they're loud, it's a its home field.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Food.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
But yeah, shopping, my boyble man, you need a jeweler.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
I got a jeweler for you.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
But people, So let me ask you this. The Oklahoma
City Thunder. I remember back in the day where if
you would have told somebody, man, you're gonna go play
in Oklahoma City. But it feels like those days have
kind of moved on to where I think. I think
people now are smarter about their dollar, their money, and

(20:28):
they probably recognize, hey, man, there's probably a lot of
attractive things about in LA. But your dollar is going
to go a long ass way in Oklahoma City or
a Kansas city or somewhere else where.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
You consider on the beating path market. But if you
can get paid, yes, money always is wrong. Money is
always going to talk.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
And also like if you can get paid and say
it's not your full time residence and you come back
to someplace else. I just think there's the usual suspects
of cities. Was selling points. Look, we live out here
in La, man, It's it just doesn't feel like the
same place when you get.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
It's not a conversation when it's those conversations of with
a contract possibly not being as high as you would like.
Is the team is that market? Is that somewhere where
you want to be. That's what made to me sustainable
And during the New England Patriots run is that free
agents wanted to go there, that guys wanted to stay.

(21:30):
They had to get kicked out, like get rid of
them a year before he's ready to go type stuff.
I'm just saying, does that cachet still exist in Kansas City?

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Because I'm not.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
I'm not sitting there like, oh, what's the first team
I want to go to. If I'm looking at the
market to go play in a different market, I'm not
looking at Kansas City. It's not one of the first
names that's going to pop up as a place I
would want to go.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
And I think two years ago, you'd never say this,
And I think you're all basis off of this past year.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
That's correct that I would I would not say that
two years ago based off of the way Patrick Mahomes
was playing.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yes, that's correct.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
But if I'm not basing it off of Patrick Mahomes
or how well that team is doing, he is still.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
There, thirty years old, he's still writing it off.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
I just don't see the same team. I don't see
the same team.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
I'm not betting against them.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
So hey, you can.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Climb up that hill again by yourself and there you go.
Let him fire at you. But I'm not. I'm not
down on that hill. I think I think, I think
this is I think this team will rebuilding. I think
they've shown it too in the past.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
I mean, if you look at even the transition they
made from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes. Like, remember, Patrick
Mahomes wasn't a slam dunk first round pick for a
lot of people when they saw him come out of
Texas Tech.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
And the expectations weren't the same either. Keep that in mind.
The expectations are expectations for Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Are very different. Now you said different from Alex Smith.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Okay, so when Patrick Holmes took over, they moved on
from a guy who was a perennial pro bowler splash
took them to the playoffs. Yes, so the expectations when
they transition was, oh, this guy who we didn't feel
like one enough at Texas Tech. There are some questions
about his decision making and you know whether or not
he can step in and lead this team to the playoffs.

(23:22):
Those are the questions people have, those sorts of thoughts
and concerns about him. And then all he did was
win Super Bowls and take his team to the conference
championship game every single year with exception of this past season.
So I'm not like I said, they made the transition.
Then they made some transition after Tyreek Hill, after offensive
coordinators left.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
And they've been able to figure it out.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
So I'm still a buyer on this team, the city
or whatever, despite this past year.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
I'm just saying that to me is how I see it.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
And you know, the Patrick Mahomes transition to him from
Alex Smith, there was a lot of people who question
that because Alex Smith was really good for them.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
There's people who questioned the traff pick. They're like, what
are they doing. They don't need Patrick ma Holmes. They've
got Alex Smith.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
And they ended up trading Alex Smith to Washington and
the thought was, man, you're a playoff team with this guy.
He's got something going with Andy Reid. They were awful
before Andy Reid and Alex Smith got there, and you're
going with this unproven commodity. And then Patrick Mahomes had
one game against San Diego I think it was in
the soccer stadium, and everyone's like, Okay, now we get it.

(24:28):
We didn't see that at all during the time with
Alex Smith.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
But if they can recapture a semblance of.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
The the success that they had during the run of
early Patrick Mahomes at this point, then great it's great.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
I'm just not I'm not a bouy.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
It early like two years ago. Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Yeah, yeah, Well I'm saying early like I feel like
where he's at now after you get a major injury
like that at this what year is he seven?

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yeah, he's thirty years old.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Seven as a starter? Seven Yeah, I mean i'd say
this is the second half of his season. Is he's
at the halftime of his career. So the expectation is
much higher on Patrick Mahomes today than the expectation of
what it was when Alex Smith was the starter of

(25:25):
this team. It's one thing to say make it to
the playoffs. It's another thing to say make it to
the super Bowl and have expectations of winning the super Bowl.
And that's what the success is done for Kansas City.
It has raised the bar significantly from what it was
when Alex Smith was the quarterback of this team.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Correction, eight years is a starter nine years so far
in the league.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
Yeah, he's got time. Man, Man, He's not a spring chicken.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
He's not.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
And listen, quarterbacks can go much longer than other positions.
It's a position where I'm not going to say he's
getting old old, but he is older and it is
different time in different era for this team. I'm not
a buyer. I put it on the market. If it's me,
I'm putting it on the market. You want to call
that going on the hill by myself. I put Kansas

(26:11):
City and Patrick Mahomes on the market.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
I mean, there goes our shot at doing a remote
in Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Sorry they have Well, y'all can go. I'll just be
on myhill by myself. Yah, y'all go to Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
We'll figure out a way. And why Levar's on that
hill by himself.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Fillip Granger along by his side, and Grainger offers accessed
over a million products in the scale to deliver when
and where LeVar will need them. The right tools and
supplies will need them on that hill are never far away.
Call Quickgranger dot com or just stop by.

fashion fat shaming in the world of sports. We'll have

(28:37):
So we lost a legend in the world of sports yesterday.
The Great Lou Holtz, who's coach in a lot of
places South Carolina, Arkansas, but I think people most remember
him as the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish,
passed away at the age of eighty nine yesterday, total

(28:59):
led and national champion, Hall of Famer, fun broadcaster and
a red ass who wasn't afraid to go after Ryan
Day all the way till the end. So the Great
Lou Holtz passed away yesterday. Hell of a run man,
hell of a life that.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Guy lived, and he kept fighting even at the end.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
You know, he had been in hospice care for a while,
but I guess you know, fortunately he was around loved
ones and friends and there are a number of people
who got to say goodbye. But you know, for anyone
who had the chance to meet Lou Holtz, I think
they saw what a special person he was. It was
more than just coaching a Notre Dame and winning a

(29:44):
national championship, bring Notre Dame their last national championship.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
It was really just who he was.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
And a lot of people probably don't know his full story.
But he grew up in East Liverpool, Ohio, and he
came from very humble beginnings.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
And if you have ever seen him speak.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
He does this and he does multiple ones while he
actually gives a lot of his motivational speeches.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
And he learned that when he was a kid, he
would go door to door. That's how he used.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
To make money because of where he grew up. And
he still would go back and support various foundations and
charities in that area. That's what his foundation went to support.
But he was always always there for his players, for
his staff.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
People who wanted to get a bit of advice.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
He made time and he really made his life after
coaching as much as it was about TV, entertainment, everything.
I think he did a great job on TV talking
about what was special about college football. He made it
a lot about just the things that matter in life.
So I'll miss them dearly. Obviously he went to go
see him back he was the head coach South Carolina.

(30:54):
Frankly also the only reason I went down on that visit.
I really didn't have much of a desire to go there,
but I took the visit because.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
He was that, you know, legendary of a head coach.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
And the times I got to spend with him before
he spoke at a charity event for example. You know,
at that point in time we'd even talk about football.
You know, he talked to me about being a dad,
you know, being a husband, being a dad, like the
bigger things in life, and and my belief in.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Jesus Christ as my Lord and saviors. So it was
a really really incredible moment.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
When you spend someone a time with someone and they're
able to be that like vulnerable with you, it was
It was pretty neat, especially someone who like Lou Holts,
who's touched so many lives, so incredibly sad. But you know, again,
he's he left his impact on the college football world,
on the world in general.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Definite icon, definite icon.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
You know, he's he's one of those names you think
of some of the most influential, inspirational, motivational moments in
our game. You know, he's he that that name helped
mold and shape you.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Know, how people how they moved forward.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
You know, Saturdays were there were names Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno,
Lou Holtz, you know, Coach Robinson, like there there were
some really really great names, iconic names that helped mold
and shape what our game has represented. I did not
know Lou Holtz personally, but the most influenced that that

(32:33):
for me, that that came from watching him and being
a part of what he had going on was I
was a big Notre Dame fan growing up. You know,
that was one of the schools that I enjoyed watching
and and so you know, with those backfields that he had,
you know.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
I still remember, like when I picture him, I picture
him on Notre Dame sideline, I could still I could
still see that because it was on NBC every week,
every single week, and that was before for you know,
you had teams that had you know, superstations. You know,
the Braves have a fan base because they were on TBS.
The Cubs of a national fan base because they were

(33:09):
on WGN and a lot of people got it. And
there's a lot of Notre Dame fans all over the
place because you got to see them on NBC every
single weekend. I just I remember him, I remember Lou Holts.
You mentioned Jioe Paterno, Bobby Bowden. When I think of Miami,
I think Dennis Ericson. That's like first thing that comes
to mind, because you just those were the those were

(33:30):
the guys on the sideline. So Lou Holtz coached a
lot of places. Dude, he's a golden domer in my mind.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
That's that's I feel like that's the most famed, you
know position. That's that's what Again, so many legendary moments
like I remember to Bus, I remember Ricky Waters and
Brooks in the backfield, Tony Rice is just there are
a lot of memory again. You remember Ellers, Yeah, his

(33:57):
calves are strong, bro strong calves. But yeah, man, that's
I mean, but ninety almost ninety eighty nine, I think, yeah,
that's he.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Had a life. I'll tell you, I'll be happy if
I made it to eighty nine. So yeah, and he's
seen a lot, I'm certain of that.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Great, rest easy and thoughts and prayers to the family,
but I'm sure they're super proud and super you know,
just just focused in on probably continuing what his legacy
has has represented. So yeah, shots out to him, though.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Here

Sometimes you can't get to everything in the world of
sports or entertainment. Good thing the guys are here to
bring you in case you missed it.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
So, guys, I don't know if you're familiar with a
current beef no pun intended when it comes to this
story that's going on in the world of sports, No
pun intended between Steven A. Smith and the New Orleans Pelicans.
They've been going back and forth and it all stems
from the fact that Steven A. Smith on ESPN tried

(36:06):
to explain away sort of the issues that Zion Williamson
has had with his weight and his shape and his
health throughout the course of his NBA career, And it
sounded like.

Speaker 9 (36:18):
This nothing was made up. The information that emanated out
about Zion Wibson. Yeah, it came from inside the organization.
It came from people even closer than that to Zion Williamson.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
I'm gonna leave it at.

Speaker 10 (36:32):
That, people that called up and encouraged us to get
his ass because of some of the things that he
was doing. You got people that are alcoholics, you got
people that the drug addicts and stuff like that.

Speaker 9 (36:45):
What was Zion's problem, food addict.

Speaker 11 (36:48):
The joke was everybody in New Orleans that cooked. It
could be everybody from a restaurant, a chef to your grandmama.
All right, anybody that knew about Zion Wibson them they
were on a first name basis because that brother ate
a lot. Okay, you even have rumors and and and
literally I'm here thinking it was a joke, and somebody

(37:10):
told me to go on the air and point out
how he got.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Busted hiding food under his bed. This is the kind
of stuff that was happening.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
So that's that from Stephen A.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Smith Body slam him.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
The New Orleans Pelicans, uh, you know, responded on social media.
They posted, uh, sort of a montage of him missing shots,
failing at sports, falling down, you know, during various appearances.
They also said stick to solitaire. He went back at them,
called him a trash organization. So on a day, stick

(37:47):
the solitaire. Steven A. Smith, a big solitaire player, hit
down at the at the NBA Finals. Somebody spotted and
playing solitaire while he was, you know, watching them, you know,
during it during one of the games.

Speaker 5 (38:02):
Is that like an older person's game or do younger
people play solitary too?

Speaker 2 (38:06):
I feel like my mom always plays.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Like my dad played the physical version, Like yeah, that's
what mom wore those playing cards out. He played every
single night, every single.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Night for years.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Like you could see his like a dirty thumb mark
on the cards as he flipped him over, and he
probably cheated.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
I mean, he's fat shaming him. That's what I encouraged.

Speaker 12 (38:29):
You heard what I said, Valance exactly. That's why I
want to know. I want to know what they should
do about it. I'm enraged. I'm enraged. You want to
talk about sensitivity now this is a topic that I'm
sensitive about.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Why yes, not his other stuff like that's just we
can bro you're close, I am, I am, you're not.
I am, you're not. And I and I don't.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Appreciate when people feel comfortable talking about our reflictions. I
do not feel like it is okay for what stephen
A said and what he did.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
Can I ask this on a serious note, though, because
you're not even in close in the ballpark, all right,
do you feel like the food addiction thing is real?

Speaker 3 (39:16):
I think the butt addiction is was real.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Now, maybe food was a a byproduct of it, but
I think he was in the girls, and I think
you could easily find yourself in a situation where your
body is breaking down and you're eating a lot of
food and you're doing things on your leisure time. He's

(39:43):
trying to get some asks. Yeah, that's that's that's what
I think it was. I think I think stephen A
totally missed on what it was like. But that's that's
just my opinion on it. I think he really liked
girls and a certain type of girl, like kind of
like industry standard, like like that girl type deal.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
And look, you know this whole hiding food under his bed.
You know, if he goes to a hotel and the
place closes up early and he's got to put a
corn beef under his mattress because he wants to make
sure he's got a snack later. What's wrong with that? Well,
let's be clear, that's his window movie. He's intermitten fasting.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
Most bids don't have the ability to store underneath, so
he's already playing himself. Steven Abe playing himself sometimes. Man,
it's kind of god like I think he sometimes. I
think he says stuff just to hear himself talk.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
But it works.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
But you know, this is why I would say, you know,
that's why there's a why athletes have now taken it
upon themselves to share the message on their own, because
now it's gone like that's a really.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Personal Draymond Green took a shot a swipe at stephen
A after this, like people, Hey.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
That's that's gonna be. That's a dude running for president
twenty twenty eight. Yeah, yeah, come on, he just call
what it is. He's he's staying relevant out there.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
You know, he's trying to keep his name and everyone's
in mind

Speaker 3 (41:05):
That you know, he eats their own man, President Smith
